This morning, Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal spoke on 560 WQAM radio, where he stated that former five-star defensive lineman commit Hayden Lowe is no longer with the team.



Lowe did not play last season after battling through an injury that sidelined him for the full 2025-26 season. Lowe was also kept away from spring camp this season due to personal issues. He was a top 2025 recruit, named as a five-star prospect. He ranked as the nation's No. 16 overall player, No. 2 edge rusher, and the No. 2 player out of California.

Cristobal also noted that incoming freshman cornerback Jontavius Wyman is no longer with the team. He was ranked as the nation's No. 64 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class and was expected to take limited snaps behind a crowded defensive back group.

Cristobal also said tight end Luka Gilbert will miss the entire 2026-27 season due to an injury. With Gilbert going down, someone is going to have to step up in the tight end room, giving more opportunities to Gavin Mueller and Israel Briggs.

Don’t be surprised if Bauman (even though he’s a bad run blocker *again not even talking abt the punt safe*) comes back just for depth at that role

The kid that left for Indiana was a major loss imo. Looks like a stud. We’ll be fine nonetheless as long as Lofton stays healthy.

 

We have scroggins! He’s healthy From his off-season surgery and will be participating full in fall camp. Hopefully this is the last time this needs to be answered because I don’t understand why people keep thinking he’s hurt.

Only answering your bottom question, Mario on Joe Rose was talking fast and said "last thing, the third scroggins, he does now return from injury, guy who played in some critical roles for us last season, so all and all that about it from a roster standpoint"

the now kind of sounds like "not" and Rose's reaction as Mario was talking made it seem like a negative comment so a lot of people jumped to he is not returning from injury, hence why people keep thinking it.

 

But will he be good enough to play 500 snaps? Likely no

We have 3 and a bunch of WRs where we can run all WRs if we need to
