Mario and Beck Cost Us

They don't trust Beck, that's why they went conservative just look at the offensive play calling from last year to this year. Mario is ultimately to blame but Beck isn't who we thought he was.
Cam changed virtually every play. Beck isn't doing that. Cam also posed the threat of a run or scramble on every play. Beck doesn't

I do think they have handcuffed him in the past couple of games. Specifically after Lville.

How about the games (like today) where he couldn't scramble worth a ****, throw more to the open players (or at least the ones MORE open or not obscured by tall linemen, ) see when the 1st down line is 4-8 yards away and there is a fairly clear path, try and make a run for it with finesse speed bravery and success, and of course make some good throws in critical times. 4 million dollars of pooped out overrated disappointing pick! Yes and maybe not the main reason we lose games we shouldn't but gee what a bust.
You're trying to compare him to to Ward but Beck is mobile enough as a pocket passer. Think about what he deals with. An incompetent head coach and OC, a line that constantly has a barrage of penalties, very late plays coming into the huddle, and zero imagination of play calling. I'm not saying he is real good but he is adequate. Except for the INT at the end he played a good game. Possibly two TD's that were dropped today too. The prior two weeks he played poorly.

He didn't go to Toney today Marion stepped up on multiple 3rd downs.

You are right on the OC and OL. They have protected them all season - every player on that OL had multiple penalties today
Point is they are always in third and long. Even last drive in OT was 3rd and 6 when he threw the pick. If they continue to not use tight ends because they stink then the goal to goal offense will continue to stink. First down play calling is so bad.

agree. Running twice in OT to end up 3rd and 8 and force your QB to have to make a play like that was typical all game.

Lyle has the feet to finish the run im referencing and Fletcher does too idk why Brown was even in the game. He’s not a Miami caliber RB
Lyle doesn't fit the offense. They don't use him properly.

Brown is a bully. He didn't get enough snaps today to get in a groove.

Fletcher is the best back on the team for this offense.

He was on a short leash because he deserved to be. I’m disappointed in the loss today but there is no doubt in my mind that if we somehow got into the playoffs we would get embarrassed as Beck throws 4 or 5 picks.

The pass Softon Lofton couldn't hang on to for a critical TD was not Beck's fault either. Plenty of blame to go around tho... refs, discipline, play-calling, Beck, performance, toughness, COACHES!
that play ****ed me off. youre gonna get hit anyway catch the dam ball. If Lofton catches that ball we win. We need better players.

I’m wondering how much autonomy Beck has compared to Ward. As a casual fan, I knew exactly what we were going to run, & just looking at the defensive formations, I knew the success rate would be around the 33-35% range.

If Beck was able to audible, there was a **** ton of yards available. I also find it interesting that Dawson got into it w Mario, & I’m not sure if it was Dawson that approached Mario or if Mario said something to Dawson that caused a response.

Either way it goes, Beck didn’t come here to be a game manager. U don’t pay that type of bread for a Trent Dilfer, u pay that for a Patrick Mahomes. For those who say this game wasn’t on Beck, u don’t understand the game w/in the game. If u’re looking at strictly box score numbers, u clearly don’t understand the nuances of the game.

Let me give u an example:
Late 4th qtr & we’re up, Beck dances around the pocket, holding on to the ball. He goes into scramble mode, causing several defenders to miss. Sure that’s fine, but the problem? He had a wide open receiver in that direction w/ no defender by them; that’s an easy 1st down on a crucial 3rd down play. The results? Incomplete pass w/ an Illegal Man Down Field penalty (& yes, this should’ve been off-setting penalties giving us a re-do). However, if Beck hits the short pass, we’re not even talking about this game in the light we’re talking now.

Beck keeps us in a phone booth; he places no pressure on a defense, & when u’re playing the 133rd ranked pass defense, this should’ve been a 300+ game w/ 3 TDs.

SMU’s opponents passing yrds v. P4/G6:
•Robertson (Baylor): 440 yrds / 4 TDs / 0 ints (8.8 ypr)
•Hoover (TCU): 379 yrds / 5 TDs / 1 int (9.5 ypr)
•Collins (Cuse): 279 yrds / 1 TD / 3 ints (6.2 ypr)
•Gulbranson (Stanford): 278 yrds / 1 TD / 1 int (7.0 ypr)
•Vizzina (Clemson): 317 yrds / 3 TDs / 0 int (7.5 ypr)
•Wake Forest (2 QBs): 217 yrds / 1 TD / 1 int (5.8 ypr)
Beck (Miami): 274 yrds / 2 TDs / 2 ints (7.2 ypr)

Beck is supposed to be the 1st Rd QB out of this list, yet he had the 3rd least production against a porous SMU pass defense, & his 7.2 ypr is 4th worst. The irony?
-Collins was a 1st time starter
-Gulbranson IS a game manager from Oregon St
-Purdie WAS a game manager from Charlotte (WF)
-Ashford is on his 3rd team & was also a game manager (WF)

Those r the 4 QBs who had worst YPR games than Beck. So stop looking at the box score & understand Beck’s inability to threaten the deep game truly makes our O non-dynamic, which means it allows the Def to place 7-8 in the box at all times.

My fear w this team was w/o Ward, would we be dynamic enough to face better offensive teams if the Def can’t hold up? Blame the play calling & also blame our $4m QB whose eyes betrays him.

Mario’s teams are always not disciplined and WRapenalty prone. Beck with his picks for 6the year QB needs to return the $4 million.
To be fair those 2 INTs were on the WRs, Toney was supposed to flaten on the whip route but instead he went up field. It was 2 mistakes by young talented WRs. Regardless the game should have never game down to that. When you pride yourself on being a tough and physical smash mouth team and you can't even convert on 3rd/4th and short multiple times then what are we even doing. Like seriously how much more talent does this bum HC need. He's losing these games because his teams are undisciplined and he gets out coached.

Its not just that teams stack the box, its that Beck doesn’t take care of
The ball. You can get away with caveman ball to some extent when the QB doesn’t turn the ball over. Beck is a huge liability.
