I just have no words, 01Canes pretty much nailed it.

A 2 year haul of Mayes (reach) and Jackson (SEC country kid w/o SEC offers). 6 CBs on our whole roster. 4 are SR and JR. This all a few weeks after Golden was complaining about this situation (one he put himself it). Meanwhile Auburn, UGA, etc are plucking CBs from this area we either didn't offer or insulted them by offering last minute. All this in his 5th year.

This is either ineptitude or straight up intentional sabotage.

Don't believe the Davis stuff for a second

You know what's going to make it even more frustrating? When these coaches look to add the Jake Heaps of CBs on the waiver wire because of their own criminal negligence and utter ineptitude at recruiting the position these past couple years. A head coach at Miami needing to scour the waiver wire for cornerbacks in their fifth year on the job. Never thought I'd see the day.

We're legitimately going to need a half-dozen CBs in 2016, but who the **** is going to want to come here to play corner in this defense for Golden/D'Onofrio/Williams? Carlton Davis admitted their questionable development and refusal to play more press-man caused him to commit elsewhere, so I'm sure other local talent feels the same way.

And who does everyone here have as the Fenton/Arnette/Dinson/Hoggins types for 2016? The corners who are obviously UM caliber, but the staff completely neglects for no valid reason.

Yep and its not like they didn't know it was a huge issue going into recruiting season, Golden complained about it during the season (even though its his fault). We had 6 CBs on the roster this year, one a RS in Mayes. I'm still in disbelief that a Miami team could have a 2 year haul of 2 camp finds. CBs grow on trees down here.

Me and others have been freaking out about our CB recruiting for months now. The staff doesn't have control now.....of course not. 98% of the kids have made up their mind. So now they are on their knees begging kids to come like they have been doing the past 3 years. Same bullsh!t. Areas of need not being tend to enough but collecting WRs and OL like they are going out of style. But no DTs and CBs, or one or two. The ineptitude never ceases

Black Vern is straight trash. What a jerk off. I look forward to laughing at him when I Scarlett signs with Miami.

Dude is right more than he is wrong. Check the posts. Truth hurts sometimes.

So 51% is the new benchmark for success?

Vern knows people and occasionally shares what others (who know what's up) tell him. When he's sharing their thoughts, he is worth reading. When he's spewing his own hatred, not so much.

I still can't get over how incompetent this staph is. Even most people on this board have enough sense to offer players like Fenton and Redwine early in the process. smfh

Not sure if you spelled staff as "staph" because you think they are an infection to this program (which they are), or you're just an absolute idiot. My guess is on the later...

Supa,
You've definitely been calling out the CB situation for several months now. Props.

Someone who views the staff as an infection to the program isn't an idiot. Pretty sure he did that intentionally.

It's also funny to see someone call another poster an idiot and then make a glaring grammatical error in the very next sentence (latter, not later).

I sure have. I couldn't fathom how we had one CB committed, especially when I look at our depth chart and considering where we are located. On top of that we were pretty much cold on the recruiting trail as well. Unfathomable man. We have no CBs from South Florida. These are inexcusable. Now they are ants scrambling to get kids who would have been canes if offered in good time and show some attention.....and they are MINUTES from the school.

You know Golden is going to blame the lack of depth at CB on scholarship sanctions.

"Well Joe, we can only have 84 guys on scholarship this year, and we made the decision to only carry 6 CB's instead of the normal 10 and to carry a couple less LB's to cover that loss of 1 scholarship. Again, it's just a numbers thing that the other 119 schools don't have to deal with, but we do. No excuses though. I want to focus on the guys we got and not the ones we didn't."

The more we see golden in action this recruiting season the more it seems likely that he knows this is his final season here. He seems to be setting the roster for a one year run and also seems to be focusing on recruiting areas that he is likely to continue to recruit when he gets his next job.

I thought Golden was supposed to be a master at closing in on top talent from the North East??

Unless something changes, he will not be choosing Miami on Tuesday.

There are some things in recruiting that coaches have no control over.

They've got plenty of control over the fact they suck at their jobs, and are coming off a 6-7 season in their FOURTH full year.

Sorry...but even indirect excuses are no longer allowed in regards to this staff. Their abysmal gameday coaching leads to unnecessary losses...which leads to kids we would normally get going elsewhere. Period.

LULZ at these mysterious comments from OP. Really weak. You quit guessing with your percentages, but you're still making lame vague comments. Tighten up.

trying to play this "I know something you don't" game... Like a kid that threatens girls that he's gonna whip it out, but doesn't cause he knows its underwhelming
