Marcus Lewis

Unless they pull Davis and Fenton this is looking like a deal where Shannon had Brian Monroe playing WR, or Golden's DT efforts. Embarrassingly bad to the point where you would have to intentionally try to eff up this badly (and even then it would be hard).

Why would be pete give a back story? Then he might get exposed on not knowing ****. Gray got in, abd Scarlett looks to have all but kicked florida out of the picture. Most of the other mods bring 10x more to this site then pete does.

You know what the coaches do have control over?? Offering a guy like Fenton early and locking him up, rather than pinning their hopes on some OOS clown.
This.

Fenton has been there for the taking for over a year now. When you spend months recruiting an OOS player at a position of need that could just as easily be filled by a local recruit, it IS in your control. DB's grow on trees in south Florida, and they spent their time recruiting a potential grade risk from DC.

Golden is unbelievable. This was supposed to be one of the best DB classes in SoFla history, and we're left holding our d*cks on NSD. Wow.

^^THIS! Remember last year when we wiffed on everybody and only took Mayes? We were like "don't worry, 2015 is loaded with DB's". This staff is beyond ***ked up.

Let's recap...

Marcus Lewis - Top target choosing f***ing Kentucky instead of UM.
Carlton Davis - Cites lack of development and defense not playing anywhere near enough press coverage as his main reasons for not picking UM.
Davante Davis - Seems like a longshot.

Those were apparently the top three targets at the position this year. It's bad enough to not land any of the CBs you like the most. It's made even worse when you completely neglect a boatload of talent in your own backyard. Criminal negligence and gross incompetence.

Rashad Fenton - Offered 1 1/2 weeks before NSD. Disgraceful that they waited so long.
Damon Arnette - Coveted by Ohio State, Michigan, and South Carolina. Not good enough for Golden/D'Onofrio/Williams, though. No offer.
Jeremiah Dinson - Good enough for Auburn, but not for Golden/D'Onofrio/Williams. No offer.
Sheldrick Redwine - Coveted by Auburn, Texas, and Louisville. Not good enough for Golden/D'Onofrio/Williams, though. No offer.
Rashard Causey - No offer.
Ronnie Hoggins - No offer.

The issue goes beyond a cryptic comment about how losing Lewis was beyond the staff's control. What was in their control was taking notice of top local talent at the position so they could cover their asses in case they missed on their top targets. They failed miserably at this and now we're left holding our d****. And CB depth is now at an absolutely critical state because of their incompetence. That's entirely on the staff.

They were going to have LBs and safeties covering slot receivers anyway because they're horrible coaches. But now they're going to have to do it out of necessity if we deal with injury issues because we're paper thin at CB. That should never, ever happen at this program with this recruiting base.

And to illustrate even further just how bad this CB situation has become...

We have 5 scholarship CBs on the roster right now. 2 are set to graduate after the season (Howard and Crawford). Another (Burns) may just want to get the **** out of here if we have another season like last year.

The only CB commits we've landed in the last 2 years are a pair of low-rated Golden/D'Onofrio/Williams camp finds. It's mind-blowing how any of those three are still employed here. This CB situation is a failure on a massive f***ing level and a fireable offense in and of itself, putting the nightmarish on-field product aside.
