Manny (likely) staying (through the end of season, TBD thereafter)

I can’t look any longer

This is BIG.

“When Miami operated under Shalala, she expected athletics to cover its own expenses. That’s not the case anymore.”

Shalala changed the way the AD operated its budget which led directly to the downfall, this according to a friend of mine who was around at the time. This change allows Miami to be competitive again.

UM is more profitable than a lot of the schools we assume are loaded. Texas operates in the red, as do a lot of other institutions. UM operated its AD in a way that almost insured failure.

I think we may actually see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Summary so the site doesn't get angry copyright complaints:

Frenk got publicly embarrassed by Herbstreit, which is pretty much the only thing that compelled him to do anything. He appointed two stooges , Rudy Fernandez and Joe Echevarria to look into it (and take the blame when nothing gets done).

The (un) Athletic has amazing breaking news that a coaching change during the season is unlikely. Admin scared that the good young talent will transfer if Diaz fired now. If we'd lost one of the last two, Diaz probably would have been fired.

Snake James doesn't have the authority to fire Diaz to save his own skin. Requires board approval. Diaz still has his dad's friends on the board that support him.

If season continues to meltdown, Diaz will probably get fired before the season ends.

"MONEY IS NOT AN ISSUE"
"MONEY IS NOT AN ISSUE"

(side note to the dildoes who argued with me when I told them Miami had plenty of cash, while they said UM is a broke program that will never be competitive again: I win)

Frenk hates sports (like refers to it in the singular as "sport") but realizes fans like sports and being good at sports is part of UMs identity, thinks we should be winning the coastal 8 out of 10 years. (insert laughing gif)

School willing to put up 15-20 million to fix football (in other words, Mario's buyout once it drops in January and a 6 million dollar salary).

"MONEY IS NOT AN ISSUE."
Admin willing to dip into UHealth revenue to fund football (made 432 million dollar profit, so apparently UM is open to buying the entire Alabama football team and coaching staff)

BOT has finally taken notice that Blake James has ruined all revenue sports. He's pretty much fired.

Nice summary. Thanks for sharing didn’t realize site could get complaint for sharing the word for word but see that now.

In the financial stuff it’s mentioned that they plan to upgrade the locker room next too.

For a school that hasn’t won **** for so long I don’t mind having a goal of winning the coastal 80% of the time. Our program would be light years ahead of the **** we’ve put up with for the better part of two decades now.

Navarro's story is a giant nothing burger. Using a bunch of words to say nothing but some of y'all took the bait and are all big mad about...what, exactly? You know this admin didn't want to fire Diaz in-season and winning vs NC State & Pitt likely gave Manny enough slack until the end of the season. You don't have to be connected tot he program to know any of this, it's playing out in front of your faces. A bad loss against any of these crap teams upcoming seals the deal mostly because the noise around the program will reach a peak so they'll have to make a move, but until that happens, they won't.

Could he save his job if he wins out, wins the ACCCG, and a bowl game? I suppose, however anyone feels about it, that's a compelling "look at this" he can politic over to a group that really doesn't want to fire him if they don't have to.

But we keep coming back to this. What's more likely based on what you've seen in the Manny Diaz era? That he can run off 6, maybe 7, maybe 8 games in a row where the team wins them all? Or will they come out flat against a team they clearly have a talent advantage over and lose at least one more stupid game?
TVD is the difference maker where I don’t see them coming out flat as the momentum seems hard to stop vs these crappy teams that are left.

NC ST & Pitt failed.

Headline is deceptive. All they said is that they weren’t inclined to fire him during the year and will evaluate after the year is done. Money won’t be an issue.

Come on man. Why the buzz kill.

Nothing like opinions based on just a headline.

Seems like he’s taken control of the locker room since the NC state game. If he can keep it up performance wise and keeps focusing on each day without letting the new big time attention get to him I’ll be really happy with this season even though our start was miserable.

We’ll be set until he declares for the draft

Remember that time we thought Golden was going to get fired after he bailed on us trying to back door a deal to PSU b4 they chose Franklin, and then we finished the 2014 season 6-7? Remember all the hoopla about ppl being mad & he was going to be evaluated at the end of the season? U know what happened in 2015? He was the coach.

Listen, I’ve been through this rodeo way too many times. We have a disconnect on the BOT. It’s already been reported multiple times b4 and during Manny’s hire on how influential his dad is on several BOT members. We’ve already heard multiple reports on how there’s a disconnect feel on Blake James.

If Manny wins out, or finishes w/ a 7 game win season, it would not surprise me, ONE IOTA, if he’s still the coach here in 2022. Call me jaded or w/e…one thing I learned is to never get excited w/ a change:

-Shalala retires, we have a shot at the Admiral, but we go w/ a foreign, shirtless selfie king who worked under a crooked administration in Mexico b/c he’s deemed to be “a health expert” who had taught & was a dean at Harvard.

-The now fired AD Shawn Eichorst leaves for Nebraska, u know the same Eichorst that prematurely extended Golden after a 6-6 season; what does Miami do? They hire from w/in a failed AD, hiring a numb nuts, no experience AD to lead our athletics.

Trust me when I say, be shocked if we go contrary to history. I’m not just talking about firing a coach, we’ve done that, mucho times…I’m talking the entire F’ing infrastructure.

No offense but what the f*ck made that guy qualified to run a university?

“Even though James hired Diaz, the coach’s future at Miami is not necessarily tied to that of his athletic director. James’ future at Miami is under close evaluation independently. The fact he rushed to hire Diaz in a short 24-hour window after Richt retired wasn’t received well by some of the trustees, who wanted more say.
The struggles of Miami’s overall athletic programs in baseball and basketball are also what James is being evaluated on — not just football. James, though, has not been told he will not be back, as some rumors have suggested. His evaluation remains ongoing.”

ppppppppplease get this clown TF outta Miami
I’ve always hated the notion that the board is ****ed how James hired Diaz because the board let it happen. I believe they need to approve all co tracts so they obviously approved of the Diaz hire by being passive and letting it happen or actively endorsing it. It’s on them just as much as Blake

I do have The Athletic.

You can't imagine my disappointment when I saw who their staff writers were for the Carolina Panthers and the Miami Hurricanes.

No No No GIF

No!!!!!!!!! He should not get the right to “fix” another fuvk up! That would be a ridiculously insane pattern of ineptness.
**** right! Why should he get a ANOTHER do over? Its insane to say the HC, who IS THE DC, gets to stay if he hires ANOTHER DC to do the job he can't do.

If a HC runs through 2 OC's and 2 DC going in 3 years as HC the coordinators are NOT the problem.

As I’ve said Manny was dead with a Ncsu loss. He survived that game and Pitt.
I already posted they were giving him a chance until he’s eliminated from the coastal, which got people all in their feels. Him winning the last two games likely insures he’ll make it through the season , minus a really bad loss. You should know how they roll by now. Manny still has a very long road to go until he’s safe. There’s four power five schools left and we know his history. I always said he needed a miracle run.

They did mention what I’ve been posting about the program making changes and supposedly treating this like a big boy program going forward. So there’s that.

You’re legit and I believe you, but I don’t give Miami BOT the benefit of the doubt or trust them at all to follow through with any if those plans.

I’m not prematurely giving them credit for **** they haven’t even done. They’re trying to say “the money is there”….well then SPEND IT. Do what you’re gonna do, don’t tell what you’re gonna do.

Don’t leak some **** out there about how much you care about football and how invested we’re going to be, and then change absolutely nothing.

Blake James at the very least should already be fired. And Diaz should have been gone after UNC. The fact that they’re sitting on their hands is just Miami being the same old Miami as ever…it doesn’t suggest some kind of newfound interest or care about football to me anyway

agreed. if we actually do our part in that regard, the rest will follow, because somehow someway people still do in fact respect "The U" as a football institution. dominate the coastal, recruiting will pick way up, and with a good enough coach it snowballs from there. i'll repeat what i've been saying: i think it's quite unlikely that we become a force-of-nature dynasty like the old days, but what i do think is very attainable if we run the program right is a program that's in the playoff mix more years than not, and can win a natty when we strike big on the right QB and/or mix of players.
