Manny Diaz??

Everyone talks about LSU coming for Guidry but I can see them going after Manny. He's coached in the SEC before
He would get destroyed in the SEC, one year doesn’t change anything, his reputation is damaged.

He a good Dc. Not great. Perfect for the big10 esp with the way games move now. Less possessions, clock running, etc.

Franklin stepped in after Michigan last year and has “helped” him learn to change up some things but has also allowed him to still be creative. If he is smart he will stick around Psu for 2-3 more years. He will have a few offers to be a head coach again this off season. But if he takes a program that’s down he likely will bury himself even worse.

Give it a couple years with him recruiting it won’t be like that

PSU has a huge recruiting presence in the northeast and mid-Atlantic. The upper echelon prep talent in that area has more loyalty to PSU than the soFla kid to UM. Plus they have a very good recruiting staff. Diaz will not have an opportunity to recruit subpar talent to Happy Valley.

He’s a solid DC in a good spot. The Big 10 is perfect bc outside of Michigan and OSU there are no good offenses or QB’s that PSU can’t physically dominate and out talent. But those numbers will still take a dive when he gets his own guys in there. He can’t evaluate talent to save his life.
This is the correct answer. Penn State plays two offenses with a pulse every year and lose to both of them.

he's a great DC AND he has the benefit of coaching in the big 10 against the worst offenses in all of college football so it's a double whammy

This is what a lot of people don’t get. He’s responsible for calling the defense and that’s about it. It’s almost set up like a pro organization. They get him the players, the position coaches, who he didn’t hire or bring along, teach the defense. All he has to do is game plan and dial up the defense.

He's a good DC who gets absolutely bodied by OCs who know how to exploit his scheme.

Carter and Williams are still running.
That had just as much to do with our personnel. Who did we have at LB? Jennings and McCloud?

Besides the fact that he sucks as a head coach, Manny's problem is that he is a terrible recruiter and an even worse evaluator of talent. As long as he works under a head coach who is a great recruiter who can get him the ingredients he needs he is a very good DC.

Believe Franklin is going to be there at least another 4+ years as he recently signed a lengthy extension if my memory is correct.

He is exactly like Michael Scott. He can be a lockdown Scranton branch manager, but he's no CEO.

He will be a part of a ton of successful teams and still make a ton of money if he is smart and just stays as a DC. Happy for him. He wanted the best for Miami.
