Manny Diaz New DC

Big part of Miami success/attitude is about having people that want to be part of the U family. If Aranda or whomever other coaches or players didn't/don't want to be here...F*%K EM..I don't want them here!!! THose who are crying over the names that didn't WANT to come here...BOOOHOOOO...it's quite hilarious reading your disillusioned rants...lol I love the hire!! Richt is on a mission...I love the staff he is putting together...Cant wait to see this D live and hear the hits crack the air!!!!

The point you are missing is that we could have done much better than Diaz!! We waited one month for this??

Jesus. But the hire has been made and no one will know what Diaz will do at Miami. Can't everyone just wait until Diaz pulls a Dorito like season in 2016 before we start with the nonstop *****fest????

I don't understand this line of thinking. As if what a coach did for his career should have no bearing bc he didn't do it at Miami.

It goes hand in hand with the absurd belief that anybody can easily coach Miami to championships.

I think we really have people who legitimately believe that all you have to do it hand a guy a manual that says "4 Defensive Linemen, 3 Linebackers" and it's instant defensive domination.

Manny Diaz defensive rankings (total/scoring)

2010 MSU: 49th/22nd
2011 UT: 11th/33rd
2012 Texas: 69th/74th
2013 Texas: incomplete, was fired after giving up 550 rushing yards to Baylor
2014 LA Tech: 32nd/54th
2015 MSU: 36th/58th

These are absolutely terrible numbers folks. He doesnt have a single elite season to fall back on. Not a single example of being a great DC.

Here's whats scary: Mark D'Onofrio has more top 25 finishes in his career than Manny Diaz. That's right, you read that correctly.

Your last point just highlights your general point's irrelevance.

Actually it highlights that Manny Diaz is nothing more than a Latin Dorito. The stats completely show that. But b/c he runs a 4-3, somehow he's going to drink the magic juices of Biscayne and lead us to 'ships.

Here's a link to a Mississippi State board. Most of their posters are happy he's going. I saw mention of his bend but don't break defense that gives up big plays and I also saw mention of MSU players trashing Diaz on twitter.

Diaz to Miami. Wtf?

Apparently, he runs a bend but don't break (4-3) defense.... that breaks! Isn't the idea behind that dreaded philosophy not to give up the big play?

Hiring DCs continues to be Richt's Achilles heel.

That's true... they feel like he mislead them/lied... but if you read it, and I posted it so that readers can see for themselves, you would see that most of them felt it was not a loss and that his defense was not that impressive. I agree that the guy complaining about fumble recoveries was ridiculous.

FWIW, my opinion on Richt is that his teams failed to win titles because they were sometimes disorganized. They didn't execute consistently. That is what has separated Saban from the rest of the SEC, on top of the talent he gets. It's a problem Richt needs to fix. Richt would have his teams rolling and they'd have these inexplicable losses or lulls.

They also had some TERRIBLE defenses, but it wasn't like he had these great teams that would have won titles but for a defensive coordinator.

My hope is that Richt can get that problem corrected here. I think it's possible. Georgia gets great talent, but Miami can get deeper talent.

It might be the number one reason he's yet to win a NC. At least he tried to hire Aranda and I do believe that Aranda wanted the LSU job as he interviewed for it a year ago.

How can he fix his lack of organization?

I don't know. I'm not a coach. People can fix their previous mistakes, though.

Diaz to Miami. Wtf?

I went through the 7 pages. 18 of the 135 we're of the "I'm glad he's gone type".
Most of them appear to be 1) questioning Mullen and 2) questioning program perception.

B/C I don't need to wait till 2016 to know this guy is a mediocre DC. He's already proven it. Putting on a UM Visor isn't going to make this guy Buddy Ryan.

Makes the DB coach all the more key to me.

This was one of my first thoughts on this, too. It's imperative now that we get a proven elite DB coach like Raymond, but considering LSU just outbid us for our No. 1 option at DC that doesn't look too optimistic at this point.

DB coach is now as important as any spot on this staff. We have to land a savage there. Someone like Willie Martinez who's failed miserably at multiple stops isn't going to cut it.

Prepare yourself for Willie Martinez as DB coach. Another mediocre hire.

prepare for alot of sacks and TFLs.

Along with huge gashing gainers and lots of points out on the board

msu was top 25 in pts allowed this past year and 7th in rezone td pct, as well as 9th in turnovers and tackles for losses. so not alot of points they only gave up 22.3 pts a game.
