How the **** do we lose to Maine? Who will be our baseball version of Clemson and can deal Miami such an embarrassing loss that the AD has to sh#tcan Morris?
Morris is just taking a victory lap (albeit in reverse) this season as part of his retirement kiss the ring tour. AD should have done it many years ago as the writing was on the wall.
Now the AD needs to find the balls to fire Gino, JD and any other assistants and let a national search for a coach begin. If not, this is the new norm.
Since Donna, this school says it wants to win championships, but it is content in keeping low profile with its players, and trying to win just enough so the program can keep the ACC money flowing. There is no reason, except coaching, and for now, perhaps talent, for lack of scouting, that we cannot be the premier program in the state, and back on the top nationally. I don't want to hear the cost of school, because the homers were praising the staff for the collection of players it had just a few years ago when they made the CWS and choked away a 2-2 record (both losses to UF -combined scored 25-5) and had BBQ in 2016.
Since, pitching (and even during) has been suspect, and fielding and hitting is not close to a D1 level.
As said, it is hard to blame Morris at this point. It is the job of Blake James to recognize the issues and take care of them long before they become this bad. He chose to give Morris a victory lap, and name Gino HCiW. It became evident last season the team was not up to par, and would be worse under this staff this season. A celebration, if wanted, should have been held for the last home series and ties cut. But James failed, and the program is suffering from his incompetence.
Wonder if the Maine AD tweeted Building Champions last night, or just recognized participation medals are for losers and you play for the conference, then World Series Championships. Winning championships builds champions Blake, not participation medals.
