Main reason for optimism

I am flying the wrong direction!

Going to LA tomorrow. And I'm going to get my brother's little peanuts *** eyeballs on the game.

Indican Pictures.

Great stuff when you're hungover or stoned..

He lives in Studio City, does his ish from Harpo studios lot.

Why am a pushing snaps to Randolph.. because his mother f****** *** was accepted at Penn State. Slowly but surely he's becoming a baby Cane.

If we don't out right win this game. We will fight tooth and nail.

Trust it

If any y'all in LA. I will be around Studio City area. Let's get it.

Boarding the plane tomorrow with Cane gear.

Miami is coming back. Let it cook.

I am not calling out that we can't beat Texas A&M, I am pointing out that the OP listed out several examples of Mario getting his teams up for big games but conveniently ignored all of last year when we were certainly not up for any games. Obviously it's a new year, new players, new coaches, etc but I always think it is funny when people cherry pick examples that fit their narrative and don't even address the ones that don't.

Perfect post.

We can absolutely beat them but we could of beat them last year also.

Mario isn't known as some big game coach but if you choose certain wins it can look that way.

You actually cherry picked your points and moved the proverbial goal posts with each subsequent response that was not agreeing with your Mario Sucks Mantra. You, me and every other Cane fan out there would GLADLY take his 7-6 record (or whatever it actually is) against ranked opponents. Including his record against ranked teams while at FIU ruins your credibility.

What's Miami's record against ranked teams in the past 10 years?

I would say maybe 5-20?

EDIT: 10-21 since 2012, according to Wikipedia, which I have no idea how accurate that is. That includes 0-2 last year for Mario. So we were 10-19 in our last 29 games vs ranked teams before he got here, for the 10 seasons previous.

I
Past performance does not guarantee future results. Lets make it 2-0 this year. Nothing else matters.
I'm looking at it like this. There is this thing called a 12 step program for recovering alcoholics. It helps them reach their goal of sobriety. I don't think it is a coincidence that there are 12 games in a regular season. If we win all 12, we will be fully recovered from last season.

I moved no goalposts. Ive never wavered from the fact that mario is not some great big game coach. I didn't include his time at fiu. The writer of the article did. So take it up with him.

Precisely my point. 7-6 is significantly better than what we have been.

If you look at his tenure there’s absolutely no way to deny that they came to play in the big games. He had a number of big wins as pointed out.

His issue was they had these clunkers against mediocre teams like Arizona, Arizona State- cost them the playoffs, Stanford. They also won some games against horrible teams but played poorly. The week before they manhandled Ohio State in Columbus with out KT and 6 other starters, they struggled with Fresno State. Although in retrospect Fresno State turned out to be pretty good with DeBoer and Haener.

I went year by year from 2021-2016 and:

Manny was under .500 vs ranked teams.

Richt was exactly at .500

I didn't go past that but I think maybe it's irrelevant
