Mack prioritized beating Miami from the moment he got back in Chapel Hill because he correctly identified it as the most "crossroads" game on the schedule as a coastal division foe. You beat miami consistently and you've got a direct path to ACCCG most years and reap some recruiting victories; if you lose to Miami consistently then you're fueling the fire on a potential sleeping giant.
