Mack Brown and Mocking The U

It's not a rivalry, but he's not totally wrong. Mack prioritized beating Miami from the moment he got back in Chapel Hill because he correctly identified it as the most "crossroads" game on the schedule as a coastal division foe. You beat miami consistently and you've got a direct path to ACCCG most years and reap some recruiting victories; if you lose to Miami consistently then you're fueling the fire on a potential sleeping giant. Mack is no dummy. He's not interested in being second fiddle to a florida school he cant ever beat again.
Correct, that was when we had divisions as previously mentioned. And, as you stated, there was a reason for that. OP as well as someone else in another thread say something to the effect" UNC hates Miami and for some unknown reason, UNC sees the game as their SuperBowl." The "hate" stuff is nonsense and the "Superbowl" stuff is a weak excuse and apparently and admission that Miami didn't play as hard. That's just plain silly.

Honestly this thread and half the posts in it are an absolute embarrassment.

There's only one man that can right this wrong....

I am not a conspiracy guy but the Ga Tech game, there was clearly something going on with the officiating. And that UNC receiver being magically eligible in time to play us. And he was a game changer. Just seems fishy.

You want to stop the nonsense? Beat them. We get them at home next year. Circle that game on the calendar and make it your priority #1 to beat them. Get that Monkey off our back. And once their streak is broken, forget that they even exist. This is a program that touts winning mid-tier bowls as a major accomplishment. It’s an embarrassment we’ve lost to them five years in a row, so do what you need to do to end that streak next year.

Exactly. The irony. What have we become?!
Has nothing to do with what we/anyone else has become for those missing the point. The ACC/REFS either have a rule about taunting (and enforcement of same) or they don’t. Selective enforcement which is presently going on is NOT acceptable.....WHICH IS IT? Since everyone isn’t enforcing it, then drop the stupid rule.

I agree wit da fella what said stop bellyachin an win da dang game! Ain’t nuttin rong wit a lil tawntin.

And I’m not saying this because we lost the game. This is clearly TAUNTING. Brown encourages MOCKING THE OTHER TEAM and has let the upside down U be displayed by his players throughout his tenure. Why do the REFS continue to allow it but will flag a player who barely celebrates in the end zone? Isn’t this how the “Miami Rule” for TAUNTING came into being?? All of a sudden now it’s OK???

Several weeks ago the refs flagged a player for this while playing against the Texas Longhorns (can’t remember the team). Mack Brown is a disrespectful *****.
What?

You're *****ing about UNC players throwing down the upside U? Is that what you're belly aching about.

This is how your buddy Stone Cold sees it. If ya don't want to see the other team mock and taunt you, DON'T LET THEM IN THE END ZONE.

And that is the bottom line, Cause Stone Cold, Said SO.

The issue for me is the picking and choosing of taunting by the refs. If they’re going to call us for piddling taunting crap then call it all around or don’t call any of it at all. I’d probably much prefer that taunting is allowed but not selectively like we see.

We constantly get flagged for taunting but the refs treat the upside down U as a regular celebration and never flag it.
