Lyle will show people how good he really is this year. Is there a team with more weapons, period? If our offensive line gels this might be the best offense that Miami has ever seen. Balancing it with giving guys enough carries and receivers enough touches will be interesting. In my opinion, this team is built to win the title THIS YEAR. Our defensive line will be the nastiest in college football.

Fletcher probably didn't get a grade valued equal to his NIL at Miami. He's currently more valuable to the Hurricanes than to an NFL team. NIL money I'm sure helped tip the scales in favor of Miami over the NFL

I’m old school. Give me the contemporary Stephen McGuire & Larry Jones* combo of Mark MF Fletcher and CharMar Brown. Pads down moving forward, and man Brown has some hands to erase tight throws when the chips are down.

Just get out in front of the chains and keep rolling downhill. Pringle and Lyle are incredible backups, but Pringle can’t block (yet) and Lyle has to eliminate negative runs.

Both excellent points. NIL changed the staying/leaving decision more for RBs than any other position.

Why would Miami want him to be a workhorse? He performance in the playoffs was MVP worthy and part of the reason he was able to do that is he was fresh. That boy was running like it was first game of the year.

You didn’t see any midgets darting around in the playoffs on any successful team. Ole Miss, Indiana, Miami had big *** RBs laying wood.

He’s also good in pass protection and is the leader of the team. He can successfully put the team on his back if needed.

You pay him a lot.

What is the point you are trying to make about Fletcher, keeping in mind that you are a UM fan?

Did you actually want him to enter the draft? How would that have helped UM. And if UM paid him good moeny to stay in college, isn’t that a win-win situation? Fletcher would not be the first player to make more money with NIL than in the pros.

But there are many more examples of players who are more valuable to their college football or basketball team than they would be in the pros. I think we would all agree Martinez was better than fletch, certainly had a more productive college career and he’s currently not on a team after one year. Probably will land on a practice squad

So if you can stay in college another year and get more nil even if its not what you would get in the nfl you should do it. This is the highest his value will be in his football career, cash in as much as you can

Average nfl career for rbs are 3 years, why wouldn’t you stay your senior year for that extra money and graduate if he hasn’t already. And I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up a coach here

The point I made was stated extremely clearly - that he probably should have entered the draft. Thats what imo was in HIS best interest. This draft class sucks at RB. RBs also have a low shelf life and getting to a 2nd contract is critical for their overall earnings. I also clearly said paying a RB a **** load of money NIL isn't a very smart idea, at least when it's not a 3 yr 1st rounder type. It's about being smart with your money. How many carries will Fletcher receive this year, also factoring in that we have a lot of other RBs returning? How much money will he get? Whats the $/Touch? Lol. Lets be real here there isn't an endless supply of money, and you have to make smart choices on how to spend. Dropping something ridiculous on Fletcher would be dumb. And the only logical way it'd be worth it is if he was a complete bellcow back that produced like he did in the playoffs - which was excellent. But again what I actually said was the statement that we'd value him so much more than the NFL is what I think is crazy and just blatantly a dumb strategy.

Now I'm not saying Fletcher actually IS receiving some insane amount of money. I'm saying it'd be dumb as **** to value him so much more than an NFL team would, which was the comment I responded to said. A 3rd round pick makes $1.19M minimum year 1. That would probably be the absolute ceiling of his draft potential imo. a 5th rounder makes $975k min. That's more in line with what the absolute ceiling of what we should even THINK of paying him is. Thats reality. You can't make super emotional dumb decisions. Especially not at such a devalued position where we already have 3 other RBs on this roster that can step up AND could have gotten an alternative in the portal. ..


Basketball is also very different because CBB is bigger than the G-League, and 1 top player has an extremely greater impact on winning than any football player except the QB. That should be quite obvious.

Sure at the end of the day there are more CFB players than NFL players drafted and thus not EVERYONE can be paid simply by draft stock... and there can be studs in CFB that don't quite have NFL potential but can still be "worth" a lot. But A) you do that too much you get burned and B) it's shoudln't be at a Significant difference.

Average NFL careers are 3 years... What is the average for players drafted in the 3rd round or better? What is it for players drafted 6th or later? very different things. Fletcher THIS YEAR imo was a lock top 4 round RB. Honestly he may have had a shot at being RB 3-5 off the board. This class truly sucks imo. You have Love as a 1st, Price as a 2nd most likely, then jack **** mostly. Theres like 6 "consensus" top 100 rbs - and one of those is nick singleton who is god awful. There are 12 top 200. Last year there was 8 top 100 and like 20ish top 200 and that wasn't even counting Monangai, Croskey-merritt, Kalel Mullings, etc

I think you’re missing the point. It doesn’t matter what we pay bc NIL money isn’t an issue with us as it would be for another college program.

We are essentially the old school NY Yankees or glory days Manchester United. We pay the best to be the best.
