Lyle

Just stating the obvious and as boring as the offense has been recently I think if we had a legit threat to run at the qb position the offense with our line becomes exponentially better. Which obviously will then open up the passing. But these teams know even if Beck Keeps it and takes off he isn’t outrunning anyone.
We have one. He wears number 10 and doesn’t need to play qb FT.

Shut up, *****. I literally said I'm sure Im 90% sure Im looking too far into this.
Yeah, you said it, but you still said something that you know nothing about. So you shut the **** up!

Whatever dude, you’re full of ****. You’re putting bad energy out there in the space and this team or anybody around it doesn’t need that.

Yep worked 1st 4 games feeding Fletcher
Went back to that yesterday and it worked

Lyle averages 2.6 yards a carry
Lyle averaged 6 a carry yesterday to Fletchers 4.6

And he’s up to 3.2 on the season on less carries all season than Fletcher had yesterday alone.

It’s not a one or the other argument. I don’t think you can run Lyle 20 times a game or he’ll wear out. And if we give it to Fletcher 20 times a game our offense is gonna be the same slow plodding mess it is now. There is a happy medium.

Every **** year, some dumbass fan whines about someone not getting playing time, even when there's a legit reason why. I remember when people wanted Randy Shannon to play Willie Williams because "Measureables" even though every single time dude was on the field, he was a danger to everyone else, because you couldn't trust him to do his job. Remember "We aren't playing Chris Johnson enough" last year? I do. This offense is STILL a top 25 unit nationally, and is coming off a **** good second half yesterday, and people are creaming themselves about ONE RUN. ONE.

Lyle has talent, but it's also obvious that he isn't doing the things he needs to do in order to consistently see the field. Some of that is injury related, but there's a reason that even after the injury, he can't surpass Brown and Fletch. Lyle was the starter Week 1, so it's obvious that the staff thinks highly of him. That said, nothing is given in this program, it has to be EARNED and until he earns those carries, it is what it is.

Lyle did nothing until Fletcher wore them down, it's not a knock-on Lyle, but fletcher is a work horse, when we get 15+ carries we look much better.

Lyle had 3 car for 7 yards in game flow, what game did he excel?
I agree hes talented and we should get him in space, but he isn't an every down back now

Such a ridiculous argument. Stanford was terrible. If we give Lyle the ball in the first quarter on the first drive and run plays for his skill set he gashes them. Instead we played Tecmo bowl running attack and Fletcher carried 10 for 32 yards in the first half. We came out with tempo in the second half and the entire offense looked different.

So running a “speed back” into the back of the OL isn’t productive? Great insight

RANDY SHANNON ...WILLIE WILLIAMS was a bad draw for this one because randy routinely played the wrong guys lol

Willie wasn't one of them though. Here's a thought, sometimes, guys just aren't as good as people think they are. Every single year, we have this conversation about guys and 99% of the time, even if the guy leaves, we never hear of them again. It's not like we are stashing future Heisman winners on the bench, out of spite. I think Lyle will be fine going forward, but he's going to have to make the decision whether he wants to earn those carries, or will he run away. If that's the case, then it's next man up.

@JHallCanes - you do know something about lifting or are your from the bench press posts in the 95%?

Lyle was dancing on the sideline with Fletch after his TD. The other narrative is that dude is still finding his groove after an injury, similar to Bain when he had a less than spectacular season last year because of some lingering injury.
this ... but we can't force feed him, it stagnates the offense ... he just has to keep at it in practice and get a groove ... but to deny fletcher at this point is criminal
