Mirabel, may I assume that Mario's campaign in the press and among the High School coaches over the past month ****ed a few people off?

More flapping gums. Neither Blake, nor anyone in the administration has backed up any of their words with actions. They've all been lying to us for years, so pardon me for not believing Flake until I see actions that match said words on a consistent basis.

It's all a dog and pony show until they announce Butch. I'm good with that.

Man I felt the same way but I am optimistic. I want Butch brother he is starving and he would kill it.

Butch is not close to Saban/Meyer level

Let's entertain this hypothetical merely for arguments sake...

If cost will not be a deterrent whatsoever since UM is shooting for the stars for a coach "the caliber of Saban and Meyer" -- and there has been "tons of interest from big-time coaches" -- then why the continued fawning over Butch as if it would be a good thing for us to fail to land an elite-level candidate who's currently coveted by every major program?

Miami should try like **** to land a top-tier option. But failing to land one if we're willing to spend to get that caliber of a coach when we have the strongest recruiting base in America would be a colossal failure. Everyone appreciates what Butch did here 15 years ago. But to see some Miami fans seemingly hoping for Chip, Patterson, and others to tell us no just so that Butch can come back seems...bizarre.

It's a very odd phenomena that has developed over the past month or so with the Butch cult. They're so dug in on Butch that it's become an all or nothing thing with them, and they're bent on Butch even over obviously superior options. We actually have dudes on here attempting to discredit Chip Kelly, who would walk in here and win 11 or 12 games in year 1.

It's not bizarre. It's downright idiotic.

Look - I'd LOVE for Butch to come back. But all this time I was operating under the perception that UM has limited funds and are willing to low-ball the next coach. With those things in mind, I would easily be satisfied with bringing Butch back.

But if we are upping our standards and literally shooting for the "Saban-esque" coaches, there is very little sense in still screaming for Butch. Butch is an amazing coach, no doubt about that - but there are much better coaches out there if we are willing to raise our ceilings.

In my opinion Butch is a better championship option than Chip Kelly.

Chip Kelly can win a bunch of regular season games and as soon as the rubber meets the road in the Championship he can't get it done.

He's never put together a team that won 34 straight like Butch Davis has. 34 straight wins. 34. In a row.

Butch is a plan B choice and Blake knows he can get him if his candidates don't pan out. Old times like myself love Butch

8. Lots of rumors out there and what has been written etc is complete BS.
What exactly does this mean?

Means as much as the rest of the RandomWalk'esque nebulous post.
Everyone from Mario to Chip Kelly has been rumored to be a candidate. If all of the rumors are complete BS, then who exactly are they considering for this job?

The Mario thing is pure BS being promoted by his friends and local coaches that want to be on his staff. On Friday night on the Ticket some bozo called in saying we should hire Mario. Turned out they went to school together - been friends since first grade.

No way in **** Mario is being considered.

Mario's agent was contacted a few weeks ago but nothing more has happened. Mario I believe will get the UCF job or Rutgers. I do not believe he is being considered.

Yes. You're right. Butch won 34 straight games and 3 championships. So he's definitely better than Kelly.
