Luke Fickell is never coming to Miami for any amount of money. He would not come for $10M.

As they said last night, he has 6 children in school in Ohio and is from the area. They doubted he would consider the USC job. Moving to the Big 12 gives him a potential glide path into the playoffs. Those not from the Northeast and Northcentral fail to realize that moving to Miami might only be attractive in the Golden years. Just check out the population of the Villages.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Fickell just stay at Cincinnati until the OSU job becomes available. He'll be making $4mil a year. Expectations aren't sky high so he could string together a couple 7-9 win seasons and his seat wouldn't get too hot. He could reasonably expect to stay there for 8-10+ years and then just slide into the OSU job whenever it becomes available.

They have smelled success now, I can guarantee you a 7-9 win season will now be unacceptable to that fan base.
 
If Ryan Day gets fired Fickel would stop in the middle of a massive sht, not wipe, and get in his car and drive straight to the airport. No resignation, no press conference, no team meeting.
Would love to have him. But he would leave at halftime of a game if osu calls.
 
0%. Everybody needs to be realistic with expectations. This guys next job is BIG10 or SEC in a major program.

we are now known (as pointed out on ESPN) to be a poorly run organization from the top down. 99% of the coaches mentioned on this board That are considered as top 10 options for this board will not even interview with us.

It’s really unfortunate.

Big 12 won’t be P5 after UT and OU leave. They will be similar to the Big East after they lost us and VT. No team in there can drive viewership which will cause them to lose major bowl tie ins.

He's USC bound in my opinion. The AD at USC is the same one that hired him at Cincy

Name one that wants the job. Ot saying g Fickell does but just because a coach hasn't been P5 doesn't mean he won't be good. Tresses, Meyer and even Saban were G5 at one point.

He was fired at Texas though - they're a basketcase.
 
Anyone from Urban's tree or Saban's (long term at least) are good shouts for options. Talking to Alonzo Highsmith in the barbershop and we both were talking about what its like to be in a championship building, everyone operates at a higher level, down to the ******* janitors. I want people who have been to a playoff game.
 
Mario or bust.

Kiffin, Schiano, Hermann, Frost. Plenty of other options if Mario says no.
 
As long as Flake is in charge, we’re not getting anyone better than the Onion. No one worth salt is coming here to work for that popcorn salesman. Quit being delusional like you all are at the beginning of every football season. I’ve learned. Until Ms. James is gone, look for Uncle Luke to be the next HC.

Part of the reason he got fired was because of that racist *** song UT wanted played. He stood by his players and power boosters wasn’t having that ****.

This is true but if I remember correctly there were stories out there of Herman being hated by his players/assistants/rivals. He always gave me a "douchebag" vibe.

I know it would be a MASSIVE upgrade from Diaz and probably it would be easy to get him, but he's not very high on my list tbh.
 
I’d take Fickell in a heartbeat. Guy would clean house of these soft players and bring in guys that would love to play for the U on the helmet. Kissing Tom would be ok; we need a HC that can recruit yes, but in game Tom isn’t that impressive.
 
Just offer Meyer instead…seems like a parting of the ways with Jax is inevitable at this point
 
Well would love to have him. I can see him turn down usc and usc hiring Franklin. If that happens don't be surprised if penn st goes after fickle
