Luke Fickel should be #1 on your list

I’m leery of how things ended for Herman at Texas. Year 2 UT decisively beats a higher ranked UGA team in the Sugar Bowl, but regressed the following two seasons. Read, FWIW, he lost the locker room and alienated many name Texas HS coaches with his arrogance. Players weren’t sad to see him go.

I do like how he’s spent this season in the NFL, even if only as an analyst. I am a huge fan of a staff with some NFL experience, especially coordinators, whomever the new HC is. No more staphs littered with G5 coaches.

Luke coached under both Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer, both of whom were great college coaches. Luke is a very good recruiter and an even better evaluator of talent. You may not be aware that, in high school, Luke was a three-time, UNDEFEATED, state wrestling champion in Ohio. Luke is a hardass, hardcore, competitor and he would turn you guys around FAST! He'd be the next coach at Ohio State except that Ryan Day is there and isn't going anywhere for the foreseeable future. I personally would love to see Luke in Miami because I think he would feast on the plethora of mediocre teams in the ACC. I have no idea if Luke would accept if offered but I think it would be a great fit.

Luke Fickell is a solid coach.

Can't see why he'd leave Cincinnati for Miami, though.

I think Southern California will swing for the fences, not land their top tier choices and will "settle" on Fickell.

When Miami gets rid of Diaz, either end of October or end of season, I think UM takes a shot at Mario and if they don't land him, will "settle" on a Lane Kiffin type.

Anything less than that and you can stick a fork in UM football for good. It will be finished if the next hire is a total flop like Dead Manny Walking.

Fickell isn’t coming to Miami.

Just ask Mrs. Fickell.

Yeah, fans don't get how much weight wives hold in these decisions.

Most college football head coaches have college football wives—not NFL wives (until if / when THAT payday comes along.)

These women have children they want to raise in smaller college town environments (for the most part) and the prefer the family environment; being the head coaches wife in a rah-rah college town and all that comes with it. Takes a special breed to want to come to Miami to be a part of that type of city. (Granted Cincinnati is a bigger city than most college towns, but the point still holds water as Fickell spent the past 20 seasons in Columbus, where he played ball—90 minutes northeast of Cincy. "Home" is still driving distance.)

Christy Schiano wasn't a fan of her time in Miami (1999-2000) when Greg was UM's defensive coordinator and she put the kibosh on any head coaching return for her husband in 2007—preferring he stay closer to their northeastern roots remaining at Rutgers.

Conversely, the same applies to Jessica Cristobal—Cuban-bred, Miami born and on a different planet out west in Eugene, Oregon (after years in Tuscaloosa, Alabama).

As much as Mrs. Fickel and Mrs. Schiano wanted no part of South Florida and their husbands being at Miami—can't see Mrs. Cristobal shunning a return to her hometown, closest their families, with her husband taking over at his alma mater. Goes both ways.

Pass..

Much rather Mark Stoops who knows South Florida. Miami is a tribal town and it ain't for everyone.

Tom Herman is a better recruiter... if we are going down the former Urban Meyer assistant road.
No thanks. I can’t stand fake tough guys and Herman is the epitome of it. He’s Manny but acts like he’s tough. He’s a weasle.
Also, let’s get the “recruiter” out of the way. Miami will always pull some good talent. They have been missing a stable program and good coach. They will get there fair share of talent when they can prove they aren’t a joke.

Good God, i knew he kissed them, didn't know he ******* made out with them. I'm sorry, this just might be too weird to overlook.

Being somewhat facetious. But recall he was given the reigns at OSU with better athletes overall than he has now. And got beat by a guy with comparable athletes that was run out of town. And I keep seeing Adam Sandler when I look at him so there's that.

Just a gut feel for me....seems like a jerk and usually those do well.
no...not at Miami.

No Way Reaction GIF

Al Golden, Mark Richt, Manny Diaz... The Miami BOT likes buttoned-up guys that say and most likely do the right thing.

Donna wasn't afraid to diverge from the "culture" and believed in diversity so we got Randy, but otherwise these folks like polished and congenial white men to be the brand-leader and highest-paid person on campus..

The unpredictable Lane Quiffins, no-class Urban Liars, and schticky Tom Vermans are not a good fit at Miami.

Think Mario, Schiano, and maybe Mark Stoops; drama-free and low-risk. The BOT is okay with ****** coaching but they avoid questionable characters like the plague.

Freeze would kill it here and take over crb if they allow him too

Just offer Meyer instead…seems like a parting of the ways with Jax is inevitable at this point
Exactly
It’s the obvious answer

Just as GP was 15 **** years ago and miami sits there with their thumb up their asses thinking they can win on the cheap! It takes $$$ to make $$$$
And we all know 100% UM would win big at UM
