Luke Fickel should be #1 on your list

I want a coach that’s been in the P5. Miss me with that ND win being impressive as well. They almost lost to FSU and Tulane before that

FWIW...Luke is 6-3 against P5 teams. Two of those wins were over Va. Tech and Boston College in bowl games His three losses were at Michigan in his first year, at Ohio State in 2019 and a nail-biter last year against Georgia in the Peach Bowl.

Even though UGA was down some starters, they should've won that game. I don't know enough about him as a coach, but I definitely agree he deserves an interview.

I’ve gotten the feeling that he was waiting for an Ohio State type job. We’ve fallen back a good bit from where we were. I’m not sure how in demand this job will be right now. I think a lot will depend on getting rid of the AD and who comes in as AD.
Great point here, we’ve fallen from the hierarchy of college football and actually been replaced and not a threat.

To get back in the hunt will be costly and a lengthy process that will take bold inspired solutions that we’ve shunned for so long .

We are not the draw we think we are , the king with no clothes mentality as we walk around proud and nose up while other look and laugh at our nakedness in reality.

Post of the day @RVACane slow clap 👏

Post of the day @GOCANES05 way before me. I couldn’t color it in so well like you did.

I’d take Tom Herman’s wierdo cheek kissing *** all day as our HC.
He's a better fit here than Texas I agree
Yeah he can take this **** to France…

Would love for him to come here

Currently enjoying perennial top 10 success at Cincy. A team he built from the ground up.

BUT realistically, the chances of that happening are close to zero.

Unfotunately for us, Fickell is 100% OHIO thru and thru. Deep roots, immediate family, dreams, interests etc etc.

Although he wasn't ready previously as interim HC at OSU, IMO He's more than willing to wait to return to his dream job as HC @ OSU, he knows that he would now be their 1st choice hands down.

You obviously make the call but yeah, as others have said, doubt he comes here.

Let’s be realistic here. We will end up with a Bill Clark, Chadwell, or Napier type. Even the Dan Quinn and O’Brien types won’t come here.

Fickle is getting alot of Ohio players that OSU use to get before they started getting players from every state in the country....he's also a master at identifying and developing great 3* talent ....would likely be able to pull in a few hidden gems from everywhere.... especially Ohio big catholic schools and publics like Pickerington, Colerain, Winton Woods, Wayne, Springfield etc...always have hidden gems that don't get exposure...Cinci secondary is much better and faster than Miami... nearly every position group at Cinci is better, faster and more talented...it hurts to see a team like Cincy with more team speed than Miami.. our DBs and LBs are slow as *****...

Born in Ohio, played at OSU, Coached at OSU and Cinn, has 6 kids currently in school. I just don’t think his next Job will be here or even USC.
This. He is not leaving the Midwest. He might not even leave the state of Ohio. Good coach, good candidate, but he is not going to leave, kick the tires. But it ain’t happening. Move on.

It feels like a lot of the candidates for this year are bound geographically, more that last year. Although Heupel and Harsin probably put that into doubt.

The winning has fallen back the budget and facilities are much better! You can’t magically make Miami’s campus as big as osu or Michigan but this job gives you the keys to an area out of state coaches poach all the time. The admin just needs to make the job more visible

I'm not sure how this would look to SoFL recruits:

2017 NFL Draft
6th Round S

2018 NFL Draft
7th Round OT

2019 NFL Draft
7th Round DT

2020 NFL Draft
3rd Round TE

2021 NFL Draft
4th Round OT
5th Round S
7th Round S

Is 2022 loaded for Cincy???
Looks like he took a bunch of underrated kids and WON in a very talented college landscape. Granted the competition is not as great as it would be elsewhere. No offense to your point but he has done way more with way less than we have.

He would be great for the U. The question is, what’s our selling factor to him? I believe he makes north of $4MM in Cincinnati, so what do we offer besides a ton of recruits in our backyard to go after? He is in the top 5 with what he is able to amass as the coach of Cincinnati. How do we get him to consider and set the hook to reel him in?
