Lucas Injury?

Is what it is brother. I happily keep stuff to myself all the time and I only mentioned it was a separation because I had the conversation the night before with someone on staff and after with oj to make sure he had a good mindset. No part in that did I think for a second it could be worse than we thought. That's on me and I have no problem with wearing things that I had to say. I was trying to give people a little bit of Peace of mind and what I said in fact seems to have had the opposite effect.
You reported what you heard. The fact that you actually talked to OJ should shut everyone up. No worries from me bro. Keep bringing the info when you can!

Game is tomorrow. Does Miami have to release an injury report for non conference games?

Don't know. Seems like I was wrong on the degree of the separation anyhow. Not trying to mislead anyone and my bad if anyone feels that way. As of yesterday we were feeling 2nd degree separation. 2 weeks tops. Apparently that's not the case now according to presser so I'll shut the **** up.

As penance, put up the pix of your girlfriend again

Brown and O’Connor are both bump and run corners. It’s not like we have to go to zone with them out on the field. They’re both man up corners. Maybe with the backups on the field we might have to do zone but not with Brown and O’Connor.
I was saying Zone if we have to get to the 5th/6th man up.

Dudes will lie and fight to get to play. There are only so many games in a dude's career. Like- Can you go? Sure coach. I feel great! (Ankle the size of a grapefruit)
Harder to get away with that now as everyone is scrutinized by the medical staff. And medicall staffs are way more dvancaed than they were even 10 years ago. Remember these guys are getting paid real $$ now and we're gunning for playing into January. I seriously doubt a gujy is going to sneak on to the field who should be sitting.

Nope…..no injury reports, no depth chart, no information, NOTHING!

Except he actually gave a timeline of his return, which is end of the year.

It's not "end of the year", and it won't be "end of the year" (unless there is a setback).

Joe Rose asked "do you expect him back, maybe, late in the season?" To which Mario gave some sort of a vague response about "that's the goal" and "you'd like for that to happen" and "that's what we're targeting". He also said "we'll have to wait and see, man".

Mario Cristobal Himself never "actually gave a timeline of his return", and his comment was certainly not "end of the year".

I continue to hear "October" and the Pitt game would be the 7th game of the year. Which would officially be "late in the season", as it would be the second half of the season.

But, yeah, let's continue to freak the **** out over non-specific comments that Joe Rose made (not Mario Cristobal Himself) and get everyone worked up.

Again, of all the people on this board, @Brooklyndee is going to have far more intel on the injury, and how that injury impacts a defensive back, than just about anyone else possible. So I'm not going to argue with @Brooklyndee over Joe Rose's word choice.

No, you may very well be correct. Mario did not give details on the separation, he just said it was a "significant injury".

To Mario, "significant" could involve 2-3 weeks. Depending on how the dates and the recovery falls, it could involve 3 games. And 3 regular season games out of 12 (4, if you include that he missed almost all of the Stanford game) would be "significant" to Mario.

Don't apologize. We have a bunch of posters who like to dissect Mario's word choices, but otherwise don't have the same access level to injury intel that you have.
Right. Mario has spoke like this before in the past and sometimes it has been 2-3 weeks. Matter fact he said about Keionte last year it was "serious" and "gut wrenching" he ended up missing 3 games. Not saying OJ won't be out longer than that but I wouldn't be surprised if he was back sooner than later.

I appreciate you, sir. Your contributions are worth their weight in gold.

Unfortunately, on the other side of the scale, we have a preponderance of posts that misstate the words of Mario Cristobal and/or discuss all of the injuries that anyone on the board has ever had, from middle school until yesterday.

Update us on OJ when you can, with whatever you can share. You have full faith and credit from me.

Exactly.

Knowing Mario since undergrad, I'd be willing to bet he is giving us the "doom-and-gloom" right now, with a fairly good chance that the results will be better than the worst case scenario.

Based on what I heard, I called "October", and until I hear otherwise, I'm sticking with that.

Facts. He has always been vague as can be when it comes to injuries which is something I am not a fan of but you learn to take it with a grain of salt.

I'm expecting to see lots of zone, bend don't break, force the opponent to drive the length of the field with 5 yard passes and short runs only to kick FGs. Our offense will score at will on almost every team we face. Then in November or December, OJ + Antonie come back to give us additional depth/talent allowing us to play more man coverage heading into ACC/CFP games. Even if we give up 21pts on 7 FGs, I like our chances with 10 throwing to 1 and 4+6 running the ball if they attempt to take the pass away.

Hetherman is a zone guy. They run mostly zone anyway

DMoney keeps saying pay attention to who he doesn't talk about when it comes to injuries.

In OJ injury pod he mentioned every single corner in the room down to Jennings. Didn't mention Lucas one time.

Continuously said O'Conner and Brown will especially have to step up.

Maybe he forgot the starting corners name the entire pod and the rumors are completely false but idk
