LSU new QB?

He’s a very good player, solid athlete. Was Mr. Football up here a few years ago and a solid basketball on a state championship team. It was rumored that he was initially considering Nebraska and Florida, with NU being an early lean, but for whatever reason those options didn’t materialize. He hasn’t played much obviously, but that doesn’t mean that he isn’t talented. Ohio State hasn’t had bums at QB over the last couple of years. He’s sat behind an all Big Ten guy since he got there. Although he’ll have to learn a new system and develop a chemistry with new guys, this dude is just the type of QB that has given us fits in the past. I was really hoping that he would have fallen into our laps, honestly. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. I think that he’ll do well down there, I just hope he doesn’t against us.

How do you reconcile that with us winning by two tds? Lsu is far from devoid of talent on offense. Not arguing with you just would like to understand your rationale.
They had a below average offense points-wise last year and lose their top two running backs and best receiver. Nobody they have returning at a skill position did anything last year. We have potentially one of the best defenses in the country and a plethora of proven weapons on offense

Not worried still but I’d say he might be more talented that 80-90% of QBs in the country

Not worried either; however, what worries me more is our Defense allowing QB’s (Toledo, FSU, Pitt, Virginia, Clemson, Wisconsin) look like Heisman hopefuls. Hope the Golden trend ends vs. LSU.

Idk he's third string at osu ... Has talent obviously but him transferring summer time and is being the first game doesn't bode well for them .. Actually speaks volumes at what they have for options before him

Amen. For all those terrified about Manny leaving, remember that he is not running a Cane defense until the QB is running for his life every play and failing.

The Ohio St Spring game. I watched that and I watched the LSU Spring game. This new QB looks much better than what LSU had. It is what it is. I'm not surprised, he's got a couple more years experience. We hype up Jarren Williams based on a Spring game, but then can't judge other teams' QBs based on their Spring games?

I'm sure he looked good in the Ohio State offense during the spring game. They run a very QB friendly offense. Lots of roll outs, lots of crossing patterns in space. Read option. RPO. It's a high completion attack. I'm sure that offense looks even better in a spring game where the QB can't be hit.

LSU is where quarterbacks go to die. They could make Dan Marino average.

He was second string last year until he got hurt. He was hand picked by Tom Herman, who has an eye for quarterbacks. He graduated in three years, so he’s no dummy! His dad is the defensive coordinator for Ohio University, so he’s been around fball his whole life.

What other experienced QB did he beat out to be 2nd string? Weren't Martell and Haskins true freshmen last year?

The only way this thread might concern me is if the title was "LSU new Head Coach?!".

Nobody should be terrified about Manny leaving, coordinators leaving for better jobs happens everywhere. It’s a fact of life if you’re running a good program.

But if you’re waiting for a defense where the “QB is running for his life every play and failing” that defense doesn’t exist and has never existed...not outside of very short stretches.

Even our best defenses had their lapses, and people forget sometimes they were torched as well.

No offense to a local product but I just saw a list someone did of their top QB's of ALL-TIME.........and Rohan Davey was #5. I stopped reading because I couldn't physically endure the comedy of potentially seeing Matt Flynn or Zach Mettenberger even higher.

You’re reaching. Our best Defenses would not get lit up consistently like we have the last 10 years. Especially in the mid/late 80’s and early 90’s. Maybe they had a bad game or two but nothing like what we witnessed last year.

Where did I compare our current defense to our great defenses of the past? I didn’t

I was just pointing out how people mythologize the old ones to the point of not being realistic .
