Maybe, as mentioned, the Peter principle will apply and Baker mail actually have some success as an lb coach because position coach is all he is ready to be. Think about good coordinators who failed as head coaches. Certainly then there are good position coaches who fail as coordinators only to return to a position coach.
Or he just flat out sucks.

Gotta be quick and fast on defense, very disruptive, very assymetrical, gotta conceal your formation/coverages/blitz packages real well, and hope for a break now and then.

Ok I didn't see this coming. Pretty shrewd if Manny orchestrated this. But I said from the start this demotion makes no sense for Baker. You can only start to work your way back up somewhere else. Manny helped Baker save face, but it was essentially a firing. At least that's what it looks like.

be the same as our ex OC "killing it" as a RB coach with Cincy. doesn't really matter as neither are leaving us and going to the new team in the same capacity. same capacity then we could see but OC/DC to RB/LB isn't in the same ballpark

wait bc you personally dont like patke you wont give him credit for the position group that he coaches? the ****? cribby just told you what everyones been saying about patke and his sole defensive position group has been one of our best positions multiple seasons now. not saying he should be DC, but you gotta give him credit where he deserves it

Cribby gives great intel. I’ll be happy if I’m wrong. I just don’t see it with Patke. Everything about him screams mediocre to me. Does he deserve credit for Finley and Gil? Maybe. Sometimes it’s the coaching like Richt with Rosier. Sometimes it’s the kid like DOnofrio with Perryman. To me, their performance isn’t about great coaching and technique but great natural athleticism and instincts.

I’m all for letting Manny have his boy for now and seeing what the new DC decides. The fact Baker is officially gone is great news. Hopefully Manny is only interim/acting DC until we get a dedicated, high quality guy in there soon.
