LSU Looking to hire Blake Baker *Update* BAKER TO LSU

He’s a very smart x o guy and had highest ceiling of the guys who left. Not a great recruiter but he brings a lot as a coach. I’ve even heard from a couple folks he got a raise.
The good news is he doesn’t need to be a good recruiter if Manny lands a solid LB coach. The roster will be stacked with ace recruiters on both sides of the ball.

It never ceases to amaze me that some posters on this site are so dense that they think it's perfectly legitimate to criticize Diaz for not dumping both his entire offensive and defensive staff after his first season. Is it fair to criticize the initial hires? Yes, that's fair game. He's a rookie coach and made bad choices. Is it fair to criticize him for not having 100% turnover of the staff after year 1? No. That's a stupid criticism. He fixed the biggest problem first and then he moved on to the second part. 4 out of 5 coaches on defense now gone. So if my math is correct, that's 10 out of 11 new coaches between year one and year three. You can't fault the guy for trying to fix his mistakes.

And not firing Baker was plain good business. Not only did it turn out to be a financially savvy move and save the school hundreds of thousands of dollars, but other coaches take notice that Diaz does right by his people and tries to give them a chance to save face if things go bad.
10 of 11 coaches.. sheesh

I’m late to the party. Fck yea! Let’s get a LB coach now!

“Buh buh buh but manny won’t get rid of his boy , best friend lover “. He publicly demoted his lover and advised him to search out other jobs. I told y’all this in Dec but nobody wanted to believe. Now I’ll let everyone get back to their imaginary land of believing their own narratives.
So, are we hiring a DC?

Come on, man...are you telling me that the Mope Squad's myth about Manny being the godfather to Blake's first-born masculine child, and their multi-decade love-affair as rare co-workers, was just something invented by the Manny Haters in order to draw overly simplistic comparisons to Golden and Richt?

As well as misuse the word "nepotism"?

I can't believe it. All this time, I thought the Mope Squad had some special insight into Manny's blind allegiance to Blake Baker.

So does this mean Banda is coming back to be DC? T-Rob? Will Patke now coach the LBs too? We need some answers. I'm assuming Manny has a plan. What about T-Rob's boy, the one who coaches LBs at Auburn? Interesting moves being made at UM this offseason.

We will be paying Utah State a $1 million buyout so that we can rehire Banda.

This is why you don’t hire first time coaches at a school like UM. The day manny was hired I said this was lazy hire and a typical Miami hire. Now we’ll have to sit back and have to deal with his making mistakes learning how this works. But it’s definitely a red flag he’s moving on from so many coaches. But to his defense great staffs aren’t lining up for newbie head coaches unless there’s big big money being thrown around.
Playing the result, yes Baker was a disaster. But working off the context of the time, Manny hired a DC who was for all intents and purposes a young and promising G5 DC. The guy was 35 and had success at La. Tech. Furthermore, Manny knew the guy so this hire seemed less risky especially since the guy would run what Manny theoretically was already running. On paper it made sense, but it didn't play out that way, unfortunately. What matters now is the next hire that is what Manny should be judged by more than anything else.
