He was arrested, I think he cares .Would NCAA punish LSU for this? Or is this a player punishment? (Not that the player cares anymore at this point as he's in the NFL now.
Or if player bets his team won't cover and ends up with the ball in his hands for an easy late TD but decides to fall on his face so they can kick a FG and not cover. On the surface it seems like it's not a big deal if a player bets on their own team, but that's a slippery slope that could lead to major issues.
One example is let's say a player on the team has $2000 on Miami winning a game and Restrepo drops a game winning pass or Borregales misses a a game winning field goal. No bueno.
Or let's say a UM player wages a bet on Miami to cover against a lesser opponent and in the second half the coaches put in young bucks to get experience, resulting in Miami winning but not covering. Could cause a player to harbor feelings of resentment towards coaches, etc.
That's just a couple instances, now compound similar instances over a season and it could fracture a team real quick.
FWIW, the NFL has changed the rules to allow the Commissioner to punish players for actions they have done before their career started.Would NCAA punish LSU for this? Or is this a player punishment? (Not that the player cares anymore at this point as he's in the NFL now.
8900 bets is CRAZY.
No, even on the surface it is a huge deal if a player bets on their own teamOn the surface it seems like it's not a big deal if a player bets on their own team
My guess is a $ sign is missing, but if he was arrested, maybe not. The Iowa State guys didn't get arrested, iirc.yep. that's evidence of a serious mental illness. no joke.
