Lost Season Of Explosive Plays

I would hate to see where we rank on plays of 10-20 yards. I haven't looked into it, but I bet it's very, very bad. It's those plays that keep drives alive.
A poster started a thread on Gattis' lack of production ... compared seasonally to each season since 2010 ... staggering drop off. Just compared to 2021:

10+ yards.
2021 185 plays
2022 161 plays

20+ yards.
2021 69 plays
2022 36 plays

30+ yards.
2021 35 plays
2022 13 plays

40+ yards.
2021 20 plays
2022 5 plays

50+ yards.
2021 12 plays
2022 2 plays

60+ yards.
2021 6 plays
2022 1 play

70+ yards.
2021 3 plays
2022 1 play

That is just "explosive" play evaluation ... not even getting into RED ZONE inept play scheming.

On the field I’ve seen plenty of explosive diarrhea.

Explosive plays, not so much.

I have to laugh to keep from kicking my neighbor's dog.

Looks like even Enos figured out how to put up a decent amount of big plays. Gattis thinks it's better to play in a phone booth and play 2 yards and a cloud of dust.

I can’t ever remember us having an offense as devoid of big play ability. We had to fight and claw for every inch of grass.

For the entire season, we only had 4 scrimmage plays of 40+ yards.

That ranks 118th in the country. Only 6 teams in America had less. 5 teams had 3 such plays, Utah was worst in America with only 2 such plays.

For comparison's sake, FSU had 12 such plays, as did the gator.

Tennessee leads the country with 23.

If you want to look at 30+ yard plays, we had 11.

Good for 124th in America. Only 6 teams worse.

Ohio State leads the country with 38 such plays. Again, FSU and the gator are tied with 25. That number is 24th in America.

Last year, we had 27 plays of over 30+ yards.
In 2020, we had 32 (good for 11th nationally)
Even the Enos offense of 2019 had 23 plays of 30+ yards.

I have to think this is the least explosive offense in the history of the school in the modern era. It's certainly the worst I can ever remember in my lifetime, and I've watched every single game for the past 25+ years.
