Loss of Norton on defense in 2018

We lost a guy that is projected to go somewhere in the range of rounds 3-5 and we have no proven 1-tech on the roster... and you're saying that the eventual starter will provide at least what Norton provided? wow.

Watch the film of the game vs Virginia who certainly isn’t a world beater. Not saying he isn’t good but to act like he isn’t replaceable is excessive. McIntosh on the other hand is a big loss

One game. Injuries illness hungover whatever. NFL talent is never easy to replace. Maybe whoever is up next can fill the shoes but that’s not easy to just plug and play. Randy moss was accused of playing lazy.

Norton is very good but he is replaceable. I think people are freaking out a bit because it has been so long since e had competent DTs. But remember that in 2016 Norton and McIntosh were total unknowns and produced immediately. By all accounts Ford is a great talent so I am excited to see him.

That’s all I’m saying.

Jordan Miller is listed at 6'4", looks almost as wide as he is tall, has rare hip and knee flexibility for his size, huge trunk, and plays with good leverage.

Just some food for thought.

He made a mistake by leaving early. Oh well but I hope for the best for him.

I think Ford will end up being a better player than him though.

What are you talking about? Robert will be easier to replace than Kendrick. Robert came essentially out of nowhere his sophomore season. We have options at 3-technique. Even in the prior defensive scheme, Kendrick was productive. Since we play a lot of 4-3 over fronts, I'm not sure who plays 1-technique. That's for spring ball to determine.

Norton will go undrafted. He was bullied any time we played a decent opponent. No business declaring.

/dead horse

But is also a true freshman that will need to get stronger. Very few Freshman DT's can make a huge impact because it's a whole new ballgame going against college OL.

I don’t see laziness in that film at all. He isn’t shedding blocks and making tfls, but he is getting doubled and chipped the majority of that video. Imo, he could hold that chip a lil longer to slow up the olineman getting to the second level....

Quan should also be thanking Norton for that pick 6....

the fact that McIntosh followed him because he was concerned about double teams is sad. typical golden kids. leave early just to make it instead of properly developing so you can make a real impact.
