Happy to still be playing football, but my anxiety level over the lack of portal news is starting to build. On a 10-point scale with “1” being “relax…no worries whatsoever” and “10” being “absolute panic,” I’m sitting at a 3.9

There are two sides to this. The calm side is saying “relax man, look at the last 2 portal classes especially QB.” The non calm side is saying “we almost missed out on Ward and almost went into the spring with only Reese and if we did not land Beck, we would have been SOOL again.”

IU getting Josh Hoover, Turbo Richard, Marsh, and likely Livingstone is a **** of an offensive portal haul.

If they keep their trench play at a high level... pretty great for them

its not bad, but they are playing catch up to us.
Richard or Fletcher/Pringle? That’s what I thought.
Marsh or Toney? That’s what I thought.
Livingstone or Jacobs/Jojo/Upshaw/Moore/Wingo? That’s what I thought.

They got Hoover, but there are 4-5 other qbs I rather have and we have a great chance at our #1 or #2 target.

I’m not concerned in the least.

Cignetti has been so good he is such an outlier in how to build a program. I wouldn’t anticipate anyone replicating his model.
Mario is going to do things his way. He’s one of these paranoid coaches. Lots of successful coaches in football history have been the same.

ALL the teams are, this is big time football.. Indiana had 13 guys on visit just yesterday and signed a few. Oregon coach talked about multiple guys on campus in presser also..

I’m sure they have the expectation of losing a lot of guys to the portal after the season. A lot more desperate than Miami is.

Being in the playoffs during a short portal window is an advantage. Your own players, who are actually playing on the depth chart, are very unlikely to enter the portal until the season is over. And at that point it might be too late.

Cignetti locked in a high end QB and WR. Not going bargain shopping at IU. He aint worried about hurting feelings either.

IU doesnt have the young talent in house to worry about. They will be portal shopping for years(12-15 starters each year).

Indiana has a huge advantage in the fact that their teams are mostly super seniors and they recruit weak. They can attack the portal full go but also they have to replace their entire team.

Ole miss as well.

If you want to compare our transfer strategy you have to compare it to Oregon, who like us are quiet on their end too..

Something like 58 percent of our snaps came from transfers. I’ll find the tweet but less chill on the recruits or whatever will cry or butthurt

It aint trickin if you got it.

Think about this...a team like IU SHOULD have to pay year over year to be competitive. When was the last time you hear of an award finalist coming out of that program in football? (sans this year) They don't have a fertile recruiting footprint. THEY HAVE TO SPEND...and they are doing it. That's knowing who you are and what you have to do.

Now, if it's sustainable is a whole different question. But if you're making the playoffs for 5 straight years, you can amass a small war chest.

Not worried about headlines of what UM is doing or not doing. They ARE, we just don’t know. They been in contact/talks a few days ago, with a low key WR from Bama, who will not likely end up here, and just went in portal.
