Look to the Transfer Portal: Discussion thread

Happy to still be playing football, but my anxiety level over the lack of portal news is starting to build. On a 10-point scale with “1” being “relax…no worries whatsoever” and “10” being “absolute panic,” I’m sitting at a 3.9

I tend to worry more than the Average Joe so take my ajita with a grain of salt…but I do get uneasy when other teams start making progress especially those who are still in the CFP. Indiana is having quite the day!!

Indiana has a huge advantage in the fact that their teams are mostly super seniors and they recruit weak. They can attack the portal full go but also they have to replace their entire team.

Ole miss as well.

If you want to compare our transfer strategy you have to compare it to Oregon, who like us are quiet on their end too...

Cignetti locked in a high end QB and WR. Not going bargain shopping at IU. He aint worried about hurting feelings either.
You have conveniently failed to mention as part of your weak agenda that you try to peddle in every thread that they recruit the high school ranks like complete crap and have to rely on throwing top dollar at mercenary transfers. Dangerous game to have to play year in and year out.

We supplement top 10 classes. Where would you rather be?

Your argument would be relevant in regards to volume of signees.

But it seems our strategy, according to beat reporters, was to proceed so as not to offend current players to minimize distractions, and backload visits to after Fiesta Bowl.

I love Mario, and think he’s the ONLY guy for this Miami job.

But I dont have to agree with this specific strategy. Talent acquisition waits for no one in this new landscape of college football. These kids have NFL aspirations, and they better grow accustomed to Free agents and draft picks joining every year.

IU is right where we are, in year 2 for them. and they were in playoffs last year too werent they? So whos model has been more successful, and quicker? They have 2 years at IU with 2 playoff appearances and a Big Ten Title. You seem so convinced our model is superior, but the FACTS dont support it

LOL at people saying we dont have much money left or going to spend less this year. We just got $14M from the playoffs and boosters have to be thrilled with Mario right now so they def will throw money at him if he needs it. Not saying we're gonna spend recklessly but hard to imagine we cant get the guys we want
Apparently you can’t use that money for NIL.. I saw that report a few days ago.. but I’m sure UM could figure some ways around that
