Longtime heavy booster and Butch supporter says...

Haven't read the entirety of this thread, but isn't there a huge possibility that Kelly is this search's Gruden?

So this is personal with Butch .Because if they go after Kelly who had an NCAA show cause and refuse Butch then one cannot make the argument that NCAA issues are what deselected Butch. Its personal with these BOT ********.

Or, it could be that Chip won 89% of the games he coached as a HC in college ...

I think all Lu is saying is that Chip might come free and that Miami would try for him if he does. The source also said "no" on Mario. I don't recall Lu saying anything about likelihood of getting Chip or that this was a near done deal - quite the opposite really. Good news is that we seem to be willing to compete for the best of the best.

Dont you dare tease me with this. It would be effing HUGE. Fvck USC. That's a program that couldn't touch our **** in our best years.

While our program was unbelievable during our glory days, USC is one of the few programs I believe could keep up with us at our best.

For perspective, where was Oregon when Kelly took over? BC Miami was down 31 ships and UNC was a 3-9 basketball school

Here's a paraphrased blast from the recent past:

Jon Gruden to Miami rumors continue to swirl Monday as The U looks to return to relevance in College Football. After signing Golden to an extension, the administration decided to eat his contract in hopes of bringing a big name to south Florida.

Jon Gruden certainly fits the bill. The longtime NFL coach has steadfastly denied he is interested in leaving the comfy confines of the broadcast booth, but there have been plenty of reports to the contrary.

Miami is pulling out the stops to lure Gruden to Coral Gables. If they can find the cash to convince Chucky to give up his charmed life with ESPN, the shiny luster of The U will be restored in no time at all.

i think people fail to put that into context.. also fail to realize that the season butch was going to run roughshod through the ACC, he lost like 55% of his defensive studs.. and still almost beat LSU

What? Lu most certainly implied that Miami is actively pursuing Kelly (at least according to his source):
More importantly, he threw out that it looks more like Chip Kelly right now than other names discussed, if we can beat out USC. Things are actually moving on this front. Specifically, "Kelly is between us and USC right now." I cringe a little in hopes it's true we have that kind of status, but that is an exact quote. I interpreted everything to mean Kelly is actually considering us, and that he's more likely to come back to college than I previously thought.

Oregon was good before Chip as if you recall many thought they should have been playing us in Rose Bowl instead of Nebraska. Belotti built the program, Chip took it further.

That was a long time ago.

Chip Kelly, da 1 true Gawd.

Wouldn't have to worry about losing to ECU, UVA, NC St., GaTech, etc. with Chip in control of UM football.

Chip Kelly falls into that hire the best coach available scenario. Not some retread that can't beat ECU or NC St.

Chip Kelly lost to a non P5 team as well. Hello Boise Idaho!

I apologize if that fact doesn't fit your agenda but it still remains a fact.

Let's not even talk about his record vs Stanford. 2-2. Well played.

Yeah....Stanford. While Stanford had Andrew Luck and Jim Harbaugh coaching.

Yeah, perspective mattered when validating Al Golden's 9-4 and 8-4 at Temple ... Because they were down ships and Temple is a basketball school.

USC was down ships, too ... But Kiffin still won 10 games.

Duke is a basketball school. UNC is still a basketball school. Both have won 10 games in the past 3 seasons, and won Coastal titles.

Y'all can give all the excuses you want ... But nobody, save a few die-hard BBB members, believes Butch Davis is close to being the college coach Chip Kelly is in 2015.

If he can adapt his offense to fit in Nick Foles, Sam Bradford, even Mark Sanchez don't see why he couldn't make Kaaya work.

First of all, CONGRATS to Laranaga's hoops for just winning the PR tourney.

-------------

Chip's "adaptation" simply isn't very good. The Eagles O is mostly pretty sad. Chip needs a dominant QB, just like everybody else. Otherwise, he seems average, at best.

I believe that Butch would build a more fundamentally sound team.

Another one of the braniacs who thinks NFL and college are even remotely the same.

This is from the guy that still calls himself GOLDEN.

Unlike all the Pollyannas on this site, I'm pointing out what Chip has done lately. Chip chose the NFL, and he's failing. That's a fact.

Of course college isn't the NFL. No one is saying that. It just happens to where Chip is at now. His performance there should be ignored?

Chip returning to college could be equivalent to Butch going to UNC. Butch proved that he could do it again. Maybe Chip can too, but why take that chance. Butch is proven.

Butch proved he could do it again? At UNC? Really?

Kelly's not a fit in the NFL for a couple reasons: His personality is that of a dictator, which works better with college guys than millionaires; his offense is best suited for college football.

This is why I was on the Chip Kelly movement a long time ago. I thought we should make a power move like Bama did with Saban, Michigan did with Harbaugh and Arkansas did with Petrino. Guys can be had from the NFL after they realize it's not really their scene.

If anyone can get Kelly it's a program like UM because his style is absolutely perfect for the local material. He'd be unstoppable down here.

Amen
