If we win out we're in

Because winning out is ranked wins against BC and. VT in Lane stadium and an acc title over beloved Clemson

I was actually thinking of this the other day. This type of scenario could happen.

LSU loses to Bama in a close one. Bama beats an undefeated UGA in the SEC CG. How many they taking from there? Could they put Miami in over LSU, who would have a better loss, and the head to head win? I think the committee puts three SEC teams in, plus an undefeated PSU. (Thinking okie loses).

It's even clearer if LSU beats Bama. No way they put a one loss Miami in over one loss Bama.

11-1 ACC Champion makes the playoffs, idc if its Duke.

SEC, B1G, and BigXII all make it say Bama, OSU, and Oklahoma hold course...that comes down to ACC Champ, Pac12 Champ (nope), and SEC #2. I guess if it was say...an 11-1 Georgia or 10-2 LSU team we'd get locked out, but that'd be some wild scenario.

If Miami wins out and beats Clemson, we are in. No way in **** TV lets that ratings bonanza. Besides we would be undefeated -- don't forget we have a SEC loss which counts as a win.

If either of those scenarios UGA, Bama, and LSU would all be in before Miami.

Conference winners should always get in but we aint winning the conference title game most ofnus know this already. Last year bama got in and even though they were the best winning your conference should be the ticket. Bama had no business getting in
D, They won it all. They were the best team. You can honestly say they didn't belong? I hate Bama, but they, unfortunately will be in it for years to come.

An article in SBNation today says that the ACC is so bad that even if tbe Canes win out and become ACC champs we would not make the playoffs.

This is why an 8 team playoff is needed. Too much subjectivity by the selection committee when there are only 4 spots up for grabs. Each P5 conference winner gets a bid, then 3 at large bids determined by record and AP poll ranking.

Meh...Let's just win as many as possible. We are good enough to run the table in the regular season. An 11-2 record going into a New Year's 6 Bowl and I'm ecstatic! Win that bowl game and it's a 12-2 season. Playoffs??? Pppp playoffs? I'm not worried about being snubbed by the playoff committee if we can't beat Clemson. Just win the games you are good enough to win which is all of them minus Clemson in the ACCCG.

Recruiting, recruiting, recruiting and after that more recruiting. Stacking talent and building both lines up to being playoff caliber should be the primary focus outside of game days. Then in the offseason take a serious look at the coaching staff and where we need to upgrade. IMO Richt needs to encourage his son to move on and hire an ace QB coach. He also needs to part ways with Searles as he is not getting it done. I would also suggest sending Patke packing, relieve Diaz of his LB coaching duties and bring in a real LB coach. Also part ways with either Rumph Banda or both and have one coach overseeing the entire secondary. I wouldn't have a problem with Richt moving on from Diaz entirely but only if he intends to hire someone who is a clear upgrade. There are many qualified coaches out there who would jump at the chance to be the DC at a program like UM.

I'm not a fan of the gimmicky former player NFL standout type hires but with that being said if Ed Reed is truly interested I would give him a good look at DB coach. I would also be very open to having Ken Dorsey back on our sideline as either QB coach, OC or both. With his NFL experience you cannot convince me that a Dorsey run offense would be any more basic or vanilla than the Tecmo Bowl offense we currently run.

Shades of 2000 resurfacing.wished we had that 2000team now.it'd kick Clemson and bamas a$$.and whoever else was brave enough to show up.

Total nonsense. If Miami were to win out we would have run the table in the conference, beaten Clemson in the ACCCG and our only loss would be to LSU who is currently ranked 6th. 100% we would be in.

Hypothetically, let’s assume all of the below teams are conference champs at the end of the season, who gets left out?

11-1 Miami
11-1 Alabama
11-1 OSU
11-1 OK
11-1 WA
Alabama in and Ohio state in, Miami would be in IMO and the debate would be between Oklahoma and Washington. Oklahoma would most likely have the worst loss considering Washington’s loss was to auborn. Oklahoma could only hope that the loss they had was to West Virginia because the other teams in the big 12 are lack luster, but on the other hand Washington would have that west coast nobody watches them play issue and the pac12 is pretty weak. I think it would come down to style points and Oklahoma has that more so then Washington.

You might as well analyze and critique the weather forecast a month from now.... that article is clickbait. Don’t waste your time

I’m not comparing us to Alabama only the scenario, but we could be like those Alabama teams coming along against Florida when urban was at Florida. Nobody really talked about them as having a chance in the sec against Florida. They started the year un ranked then got to the sec championship against Florida and lost in 08 by double figures. They started 09 and everyone was still talking bout Florida they went into the game ranked 2 behind Florida’s 1 and waxed them, overtook the sec and Florida and the rest is history.

There is not a team in the conference that cannot be beaten. If the kid doesn't fumble through the end zone, Clemson loses at A&M. It was 24-7 against a horrible Georgia Southern team midway through the 4th last weekend, too. So why predict what Miami will be or won't be 3 months from now? Just get better week over week. Things are starting to sort out. Boulware continues to get more reps at left guard and should solidify the position probably after the UNC game. Scaife is starting to get more reps. Looks like Carter is the first safety off the bench and every indication from Diaz yesterday is Carter will start in JJ's place. Need DJax and JJ to get healthy. We need both for conference play.

The elephant in the room is Rosier. Sounds more and more like he is on a shorter leash and I like the fact that he knows he has heat on. Seemed to perform better last Saturday. We obviously need him to be competent consistently. Things are sorting out at wide receiver.

I prefer the meet in the middle approach with 6 playoff spots; Five P5 champs and 1 At Large bid. 1 and 2 get a bye, 3 plays 6, and 4 plays 5.

To me, 8 spots diminishes the best thing about college football; the passion to be perfect. With 8 spots open, you leave too much room for 10-2 teams to get in even if one of the losses came to their only quality non-conference opponent. You'd see two or three SEC teams in it every year because they have an inflated strength of record having played an 8 game SEC schedule.

6 to me is the magic number because the bye weeks keep the incentive for teams to strive to be perfect. At the same time, the lone At Large bid incentives more G5 teams to schedule quality non-conference opponents. With 3 At Large bids, you're basically telling the UCF's of the world that no change is needed, you have an automatic bid if you go undefeated 8 games in a lower tier conference and schedule 4 cupcakes for your non-conference. One bid says that you need to win your conference and get a few P5 teams on your schedule if you want that playoff spot. You need to adjust your schedule to prove that your playoff case is stronger than a 10-2 P5 conference runner up.

And Clemson BARELY scraped by the 5th(?) best SEC team and the media had a field day the day after about the incorrect call by the refs.

"barely scraped by" only factors in if OSU barely scrapes by illinois or something similar. no one is going to ding Clemson for "barely scraping by" a decent program like A&M, especially playing at A&M.

All I know is that you should have to win your conference to get in....if we end up with another GA/Bama debacle like last year something needs to be done.

We've got a loooooong ay to go to even be in consideration. If you think BC and VT away night games are ****** teams we will cake walk through you are in for a surprise. We will be very lucky to beat both this year.

Clemson will have their offense worked out by then and barring injuries will be humming along nicely for the ACCCG.

We got destroyed by a so-so LSU team. Long way to go to even be remotely concerned about the playoffs.

That is not true. It will factor into the equation if Clemson is our only win and we are trying to make it in over a second SEC team.
