I was actually thinking of this the other day. This type of scenario could happen.
LSU loses to Bama in a close one. Bama beats an undefeated UGA in the SEC CG. How many they taking from there? Could they put Miami in over LSU, who would have a better loss, and the head to head win? I think the committee puts three SEC teams in, plus an undefeated PSU. (Thinking okie loses).
It's even clearer if LSU beats Bama. No way they put a one loss Miami in over one loss Bama.
D, They won it all. They were the best team. You can honestly say they didn't belong? I hate Bama, but they, unfortunately will be in it for years to come.Conference winners should always get in but we aint winning the conference title game most ofnus know this already. Last year bama got in and even though they were the best winning your conference should be the ticket. Bama had no business getting in
An article in SBNation today says that the ACC is so bad that even if tbe Canes win out and become ACC champs we would not make the playoffs.
Alabama in and Ohio state in, Miami would be in IMO and the debate would be between Oklahoma and Washington. Oklahoma would most likely have the worst loss considering Washington’s loss was to auborn. Oklahoma could only hope that the loss they had was to West Virginia because the other teams in the big 12 are lack luster, but on the other hand Washington would have that west coast nobody watches them play issue and the pac12 is pretty weak. I think it would come down to style points and Oklahoma has that more so then Washington.Hypothetically, let’s assume all of the below teams are conference champs at the end of the season, who gets left out?
11-1 Miami
11-1 Alabama
11-1 OSU
11-1 OK
11-1 WA

I prefer the meet in the middle approach with 6 playoff spots; Five P5 champs and 1 At Large bid. 1 and 2 get a bye, 3 plays 6, and 4 plays 5.This is why an 8 team playoff is needed. Too much subjectivity by the selection committee when there are only 4 spots up for grabs. Each P5 conference winner gets a bid, then 3 at large bids determined by record and AP poll ranking.
And Clemson BARELY scraped by the 5th(?) best SEC team and the media had a field day the day after about the incorrect call by the refs.
"barely scraped by" only factors in if OSU barely scrapes by illinois or something similar. no one is going to ding Clemson for "barely scraping by" a decent program like A&M, especially playing at A&M.
