That loss would be meaningless compared to a let’s say a clemson win in the acc championshipBut, the committee, I think, values Petersen and Washington and they would also have one loss to an SEC team. Of course, I’d love to be wrong in my hypothetical.
Hypothetically, let’s assume all of the below teams are conference champs at the end of the season, who gets left out?
11-1 Miami
11-1 Alabama
11-1 OSU
11-1 OK
11-1 WA

Yeah. LSwho is lurking in the shadows. If Miami can run the table to the ACCCG (which I believe is possible, probable even, from my point of view), then Miami would have made enough corrections to beat Clemson. And, it still might not matter to the committee because of the weakness of the ACC.

History says that won't happen. Fans always think there will be all these teams tied at the top, but it never happens.
History says that won't happen, that's kinda my point. It may not be "scientific", but these things mostly work themselves out. There have been very few years with any kind of real controversy in the last poll, but fans wring their hands about it every single year.
...but...
Washington and OSU come from conferences even weaker than the ACC, so those two in that order.
That’s bullsh*t a 1 loss Miami that happens to beat Clemson in that scenario will undoubtedly be in

The Big 10 is not weaker than the ACC. They have more depth in their top shelf and middle of the road teams. The ACC has crap behind Clemson, Miami and VA Tech. Not to mention that the ACC venues have little to offer in the way of a home field advantage.
An article in SBNation today says that the ACC is so bad that even if tbe Canes win out and become ACC champs we would not make the playoffs.
If we win out its gonna come down to the "best loss" bs. Stupidest thing I've ever heard. If we win out and beat an undefeated Clemson it would be hard to keep out a conference champion with 1 loss that has a win over Clemson.
Only scenario I could see a problem is if Alabama, Ohio State, and Oklahoma win out and they're in and we beat an undefeated Clemson for the ACC title, which isn't happening anyway. Then, Alabama beat an undefeated UGA for the SEC.
It would come down to a 1 loss Miami (conference champ, wins over Clemson, VT, BC and loss vs LSU) or UGA (wins over LSU, Auburn, UF, etc and loss to Alabama. Non-conference champ). Can't trust the polls not to pick an SEC team in that scenario. Not that it's gonna happen but theoretically...
I shouldn't be responding to this post, because I TRY not to address rankings before Halloween. However, WHY is the "ACC so bad?" What makes Miami and Clemson bad teams? Is Louisville a bad team?
We will see a lot of football has to be playedNot when that 1 loss came to LSU who will have losses to Bama and UGA. Our 1 big game will be against Clemson who was a missed penalty away from losing to TAMU who will probably lose at least 2 games in SEC play. I can see 2 SEC teams in it again with the Ohio St. and Oklahoma as the other 2.
