How does that work with NIL? Let's say he committed as a low to mid 3 star but with camps and whatnot, he skyrockets to be a top 100 player. Does he renegotiate? I'm sure schools are throwing money at him.
Yes, I also hope the staff knew what they had and planned finances accordingly.

Not sure about Miami (we seem to have our **** together) but I know some people at other programs involved in NIL

This has been a driving factor in lots of decommitments

I have ZERO inside info here, but have heard through the grapevine that our NIL packages are based on staff evals and not rating service rankings. Some of the late risers in the last couple of cycles rose to what our internal valuations were so the packages didn't need to change simply cause the rest of the world caught up to reality.

Whether or not our packages change based on competitive offers, that IDK, but we have seen kids dropped that tried to play the leverage game.

Yeah I don’t even bother worrying about this stuff

1. What the **** do they care what I think anyway

But more importantly

2. Miami knows what they’re doing. Clearly. We good.

I thought Greg played safety or did he play both ways?

He moved from Safety to Edge as a senior. I appreciate @supacane but I'm not sure I agree on the Rousseau comp. First Greg is much taller with longer arms (hence the nickname Tarantula). Second, what Dawson lacks in outsized length he makes up in being quicker in a phone booth. That edge burst and hip flexibility is impressive. I like the Wilson comparison better.

I don’t worry about the BS rankings money crap. Miami has their **** together. My best guess is Miami offered money based on what they think his worth is before the stupid star game is played . Miami is ahead of the message boards. Don’t worry

I remember when NIL was new only a couple years back. Dennis Smith had a couple missteps related to other programs coming in much higher late in the cycle. Pretty sure we lost some top targets because of it. I think he’s ironed that all out now. Agree we pay based off our own evals not rankings. Some we’ll still negotiate others we have our price and don’t move off of it. No insider.
