Lingard

Need to see him against D1 Power five competition to get a real evaluation. Even Gus Edwards looked good in the second half against Savannah State.

I'm a firm believer that the Savannah State told us nothing about the roster, but if we're playing it out, I think Robert Burns earned quality a touch or two in a real game based on the Savannah State game.
He has wheels im just worried about his wiggle especially with this OL where holes are not frequent. U give that kid a hole.....hes gone

Yea... only problem with this is any DC worth anything will know when this kid is in the game it'll most likely be a running play so you need to incorporate some simple pass blocking schemes every now and again when he's in the game and hope he picks it up.
That may be true, but it's not like DC's have that much difficulty figuring out our Run plays as is.

Doesn't know the entire playbook or pass pro consistently well? Well, Choc certainly doesn't pass pro well and since when does having to learn the entire playbook when we don't use most of it affect a talented kid's production or PT? Send the kid in for an occassional carry/screen pass. If a kid is THAT talented, it's 100% on the coaches for not figuring out how to get him on the field.

lol at 5th on the depth chart.
Its like the playbook/Rosier argument

If you have obvious advantages in talent, you get that ****** on the field

You’re telling me Calvin Ridley knew all of Alabama’s playbook as a freshman? Kid doesn’t know how to tie his shoes.

Surprised that lost in all the posts on the game is how well Lingard played. I haven't been as excited at a RB as when I first saw Duke Johnson. The kid is special. I know he was playing against their scrubs but he has another level of speed that is not normal. He needs to play more and soon. IJS.

Check the threads right after the game. I made a thread called 'LO'.

Not necessarily. RB's run routes too. We just have to keep our backs in for pass pro more because our line sucks.

Lo was running at about 75%. He had to slow way down to wait for his blocks.

Which I think speaks volumes about his ability at running back

You see so many incredible athletes get so anxious when they are running the ball. Patience is what has allowed Frank Gore to be knocking on the HOF door. Patience plus explosiveness is a **** of a combo for Lingard.

Not to mention they run a Wing-T at his HS, so he's basically never pass blocked before he got here.
Gotta disagree here. I saw him against doctor Phillips last year and they couldn't run the ball against that superior dline so he was blocking most of the game and he was a stud. I think the issue is knowing who to block not his blocking ability.

that's when you play chess. since he's in the game and everyone expects run, then play action pass is the what you call.

This staff is funny man. All they preach is “ we play the best player no matter they age” yet they are so obsessed with upperclassmen and “ experience” Rosier, Knowles, Mike Smith, half of the OL. I duno when this staff got so “ conservative” there’s no way Lingard, Pope, Nesta, All The CB’s, Gurvan should not be playing in front of some of these upperclassmen. Frosh are more ready to play now than ever. If the offense or defense is this hard to pick up, they need to change something. More True Frosh are playing significant minutes than ever before around the country. LET THE BEASTS EAT!!

And as you said it’s really all of a sudden of being conservative because we played a bunch of true freshman starting off in both 2016 and 2017 so I don’t see what’s the problem now when we just signed a more over talented group they we have had in a long time

It seriously makes no sense.. how can they be okay with what Knowles puts on tape? I really hate bashing kids but this **** is mind boggling

His burst and top end are both noticeable. Im not yet convinced he can run with enough 'runner's lean' to be an every down back. Time will tell. He'll be here for a few years.

That said, Travis Homer is the clear #1 RB on the roster right now. He earned it last season. As well, Homer's burst is right up there with Lingard's. Travis Homer was 2nd fastest 40 time on the team (4.31) behind Lingard (4.27). And Homer will lower the shoulder when in tight quarters.
