They really should just give everyone 5 years of eligibility and you only get a 6th year if you get injured and miss significant time in your last year of eligibility.

I mean just get rid of redshirts altogether unless it if for a serious injury sustained in your 5th season. Players would get a full 5 years of being able to play and it would be a true exception to get a 6th year that only a few players would get.

That way coaches/players don't have to worry about burning redshirts b/c they played in a 5th game their freshman year.
