Latest on QB Torrance Gibson.....

Thiis is a kid you change your system for which Miami has never done. I am very happy with Olsen/Kaaya. We in fact just need to add a decent kid this year and get a stud next year. Auburn is an excellent fit for this kid.

No you don't because on linemen steps on his ankle then what? Have KO or BK run the system? That means we waisted two year recruiting the QB position for nothing

I think we wasted 2 years of recruiting if Gibson came in and took the job from KO/BK.

He shouldn't even be a thought for a few years.

Not that I love FSU but the kid went on to be Rhodes Scholar. Not an easy task where ever you go.

And depending on what they want to study plays a role as well... UM is a good school but let's not pretend its an Ivy League...

There's more of a separation between Miami and FSU than there is between the Ivy League and Miami. Just keeping it real.

No its not... It depends on the major... Just keeping it real...

FWIW, its not that difficult to add more read/option to our offense IMO. We run most of our stuff out of the spread anyway under Coley, it is what he knows.

That would mean basically putting all our eggs in TG basket. Even if we did what if he was just OK do we just wait until the next QB that can run the system or switch it again?

We didn't get Wimbush…TG had to have told him that he's coming to Miami so Wimbush went the other way..RIGHT?:nelsonhaha:

You're not keeping it real. You just said "no it's (fixed that for you) not", and then provided no justification, which is incredibly lazy.

So what metrics are you using? I'm using the rankings -- so Cornell is the lowest ranking Ivy League school at #16, Miami is #47, delta is 31. FSU is #91, which is a delta of 44. So, that was my justification. What was yours?

Those rankings tank the overall school, not each of the colleges within each school. So for example, for undergraduate Pre Med Studies, FSU isn't even close to Miami, but in Engineering, FSU has a better program. This is just an example, don't take it as fact.

Exactly... This argument has made before... You can throw in any rankings you want but it depends on the major... Med school, UM is on another level but FSU has a stronger engineering program... I'm not being lazy, jus bit more privy to the protocol of academia than Hughhoney... Like I said it depends on the degree... UM is a good school but its not like an Ivy League institution...

That's what I was doing..comparing the schools overall. "Pre Med Studies" isn't a college or major at UM btw, it's a designation.

So you weren't using any metrics whatsoever then? That's what I thought. The "protocol of academia" doesn't make any god**** sense btw, but I'm glad you're trying to use big words.

You're right, it is not a major, there is just a Pre Med program. It was an example not factual to show that both schools have certain aspects of academics that they are better in than the other school. The two examples I used may or may not be factual. I doubt it, but I was just trying to explain what Lauderdale meant.

I know what he meant, because every school has one better program than another. Miami's marine science program is second to none on the east coast, but I'm not going to go act like we should be in the same breath as Princeton because of it. Overall when you're comparing one university to another then you should use metrics.

And there isn't really a pre-med "program" at Miami either. You can designate yourself as pre-med and take the courses but it doesn't mean anything and doesn't go on your transcript. Trust me on that.

Exactly. Take your example about the Marine Science school. A recruit would pick FSU over us when it involves a school that they are ranked higher than us at and vice versa.

Hughhoney is just validating our argument... All I was saying is that it depends on the major... So there is no need to put down a recruit because he says he chose a particular school because of academics... The example you use is spot on however the poster wanted to argue another point... Too be honest all of the states schools have a selling point in this state. They have something that may be better than the other... I graduated in 06 and in all honesty UM wasn't the hardest school to get into... New College which is located in Sarasota had a more demanding admission criteria and then it was UF... And let's be honest most of the student athletes are not looking to take the most difficult major, so the point is moot anyway...
