Exactly. Take your example about the Marine Science school. A recruit would pick FSU over us when it involves a school that they are ranked higher than us at and vice versa.
Hughhoney is just validating our argument... All I was saying is that it depends on the major... So there is no need to put down a recruit because he says he chose a particular school because of academics... The example you use is spot on however the poster wanted to argue another point... Too be honest all of the states schools have a selling point in this state. They have something that may be better than the other... I graduated in 06 and in all honesty UM wasn't the hardest school to get into... New College which is located in Sarasota had a more demanding admission criteria and then it was UF... And let's be honest most of the student athletes are not looking to take the most difficult major, so the point is moot anyway...
The argument is that Miami is closer to the Ivy League than FSU is to Miami. Not sure how I've validated your side of that.
