Hughhoney is just validating our argument... All I was saying is that it depends on the major... So there is no need to put down a recruit because he says he chose a particular school because of academics... The example you use is spot on however the poster wanted to argue another point... Too be honest all of the states schools have a selling point in this state. They have something that may be better than the other... I graduated in 06 and in all honesty UM wasn't the hardest school to get into... New College which is located in Sarasota had a more demanding admission criteria and then it was UF... And let's be honest most of the student athletes are not looking to take the most difficult major, so the point is moot anyway...

The argument is that Miami is closer to the Ivy League than FSU is to Miami. Not sure how I've validated your side of that.

All this potential and im not saying he's a bad kid but depending on what happened this kid will need a reality check very fast

If you suspend a player like that, that clearly shows to other schools that he is a problem child. His recruitment is going to be harder on him now.

Schools who care about winning will still pursue him the same.
 
besides Chad Thomas, I don't know of any other time where UM's academics played a big part in securing a top recruit's signature.

UM's recruiting pitch to football players shouldn't be focused on its academics.

the burden of moving the school academically rests on the other students, not football players.
 
For him to be suspended, he had to have done something pretty horrible. Speaking from experience as a high school athletic director.

Maybe, but I don't think they will have him as that must get guy on their board any more. If you get kicked out of school and football now these recruiters will look for every reason why they shouldn't have you.

could make a difference with the parents tho.

Pretty sure the Domers wouldn't. They give a **** ton about winning. Would Stanford? How would Hoke at Michigan sell the school on recruiting a kid way out of the territory who hit a teacher/girl? Depends on if he is worth it. At QB, i don't think so. IF he focused on being a WR as the recruiting sites and his own 7 on 7 team are hinting at then maybe he is.
