Wes is not worth risking a 6 game mario suspension and a fine of half operating budget plus reputational damage at a time when miami needs to curry favor for votes in other conferences to get out the ACC. An average linebacker is not worth the risk.

The tro reversed the conferences and ncaa from blocking them. As pointed out earlier, would Wes have left if he was allowed to play a 5th year? That is the bigger question. Moving forward, kids will have the option and I do believe anyone leaving for the NFL early will not be allowed to return. At least until someone fights that rule and wins. If these kids play, it sets that to be the norm which is why the ncaa and conferences don’t want it to happen this year.

no school is gonna touch them either way bc the conferences will take this to federal court.

the conf are within their right to punish schools however they see fit if the schools agreed to those rules.

wes or others can play - the schools risk the punishment.

I love Wes. He was the first guy to buy into Mario's vision.

But he can come be a GA or something if we want him around the team and he can't make an NFL squad.

You can never have enough depth!

I’d take Wes back in a heart beat and bury him at the bottom of the depth chart and make him earn his way back towards the top.

It’s a long season and having a guy like Wes on the team would be a really nice addition for depth purposes.

If we lose key players in that position group for any reason during the year, Wes would be a best case scenario plug and play option.

He would never go for that. It's take him to play him, or don't.

I don’t think any players currently suing chose to forgo their final season or seasons CFB for the pros. So I doubt this is even an issue after this season.

I think the way the college landscape is currently, most of these guys are clearly fringe roster players at best. Most of them would have somewhat decent NIL opportunities so I fully believe he would’ve come back for another year.

In all other cases not named Wesley I whole heartedly agree. That’s why I voiced my strong opinion against Pyburn in the Pyburn thread. Wesley is a different story.

Doesn’t matter who it is. You want to lose your locker room then bring in a player to play over kids who busted their *** all summer and fall to sit for another year while this guy comes in and takes your snaps. Football is not like basketball or baseball it is a team sport team, it take time to build trust and make each player playing together. You bring in a guy doesn’t matter who he is, it is a distraction. We have a lot of young LB who will surprise you this year and I believe in them. I think the coaches feel the same way

But, this fall a main talking point is how much faster this team has gotten across the board. And that includes Pruitt & Wiley seeing the field more as they're the 2-Deep at LB right now.

Though the money might be better for these players thinking of returning, I think it could be a short sighted move for the guys who are really thinking of making it at the next level.

I don’t know how much more development some of these guys are gonna get coming back. It’s not like these players were at the top of there draft boards anyway and there’s always talent coming out year after year.

Sometimes you just got to make that jump and grind again. There’s not that much more development for these guys thinking of coming back. Grind and immerse yourself in the professional environment.

The team and the roster are set for the season. All this will do is create a week-to-week distraction and legal noise. You also no the ACC will do whatever it can to ***** us over.

as much as I would have wanted him back he can't come back based on the leagues new rule - no NFL players can come back to college. this group of players did get screwed by the NCAA but it is what it is.

Weirdly, rosters may stabilize going forward. When players realize that NIL can be a certainty, some of the good, but not great, players may stay the full four years rather than leaving early.

We all deal with changing rules, timelines, expiration dates, etc in our daily, non sports lives.

“Effective June 20, 20**, this policy will no longer be effective….,” “If you are born prior to May 1st, 20**, you must now play up in the next age group…..”, etc, etc.

The examples of rule changes with an effective date are endless and it’s no different in this case. Tough ****, buttercups, but time to move on in life or continue to work out in the gym and try again next year or whatever the case is.

The NCAA or the save act could’ve been more clear in terms of stipulating the parameters. It would’ve also been in their best interest to pass this act sometime in the middle of the fall but regardless, the lawyer sharks and agents would find a loophole to challenge it because the bottom line is, there is too much money at stake that they are trying to grab.

It’s not about the players first. It’s about the lawyers and agents getting paid.

To **** over freshmen players, whom many now won’t play as much in their first of 5 years or have to get cut because they have to give up a spot to a failed NFL prospect is ludicrous.

This will only be an issue and topic for this year alone because the 5 years to play NCAA rule was instated after these guys declared for the NFL. I sympathize with these guys, it's not fair for them because some of them would've stayed in college an extra year. At the same time though they've gone pro, practiced with NFL teams, gone through training camps, etc. But "pros" should not be able to come back down to the college level. I'd love to have Wesley back on the team but it's a hard no for me.

Are we going to go back in time for the last 1-50 years and give everyone who wasn’t good enough to play in the NFL, WNBA, Basketball, Soccer, insert favorite sport here, an extra college year because they didn’t get a 5th year?

I graduated in 2001. Am I going to get my extra baseball year that I “deserve?”
