Smoking gun? It's still UCONN.....not sure what you can expect with that level of talent. I'm an eyeball guy more than stats guy, which is why i said i have to watch more tape on him and his offense. I just use stats a lot at work and figured i'd use some since the the point was the other poster made was the only place Lashlee called the play without a stud HC was UCONN.....and this bad offense did improve. It was only one year so who knows what year 2 would have been. SMU year 1 was worse than previous staff.....it was year 2 with Buechele where it took off.
I added an additional year. You typically have a little carry-over first year after a guy leaves if the next coach keeps a lot of the same principles in place to ease the transition (and Pindell was a better running QB). In the end, it's still crappy UCONN with awful talent, but the passing increase ~5% points, yards jumped from 4.8 to 5.5 with mostly the same players, plays per game up 10 bc of his tempo. Within 2 years removed, back down to mid 60 plays per game and almost a half yard per play.
2016 - UCONN before Lashlee, 65.5 plays per game at 4.8 yards per play....56.1% completion percentage (shirreffs)
2017 - UCONN with Lashlee, 75.4 plays per game, 5.5 yards per play....60.8% completion percentage (shirreffs)
2018 - UCONN after Lashlee, 70.8 plays per game, 5.3 yards per play.....56.9% completion percentage (pindell)
2019 - UCONN year 2 removed, 67.3 plays per game, 5.1 yards per play.....59.7% completion percentage (zergiotis)
