Retaining Scott could also be the beginnings of a mutiny.
How many players you think will be huddled in his office for post-practice hugs after they find out Richt unplugged the bounce house? I am against keeping any coach who was a pupil in the school of Al Golden.
You're just letting that daycare mentality linger around your program. After he became the interim HC, Scott said it's not about wins and losses it's about taking care of the kids emotions and feelings.
He should've had a dlck hanging out of the corner of his mouth like a cigarette when he said that shlt.
I think Scott is a good position coach, but honestly i was afraid of retaining him for the same reasons. I'm not thinking mutiny, just a divided locker room. It's difficult for kids to listen to one guy for half a year and then change to a new guy with the other guy still in the room. It could easily turn into a "if dad says no, go ask mom" type of thing. If Larry Scott stays on, he better realize this REAL early and cut the ****, let these kids know who the alpha is. This is also why if i would have retained a coach, it would have been a true assistant like Beard or Hurlie.
One quick comment - i was higher on Scott before the interim role than after. I realize he wasn't qualified to be a head coach (it showed), but what i perceived as player management, lack of time management in games, lack of accountability, accepting penalties, doing the same Golden coach speak, and the look of bewilderment on the sidelines at times.....it just didn't sit well with me. I saw the same sloppy, mismanaged and penalized team after as i did before. And yes, Njoku has played well, but it doesn't look like Dobard or Herndon have improved like i expected. Dobard looked better last year in limited time than this year.
