Lane v. The Pirate

I hope Leach wins only because it'll create more chaos and fun reading on these parts. This place is so knee-jerk reactionary that everyone here on the Lane train will probably jump on to the Leach train and it'll be Mario vs. Leach for next HC of the U.
We would light up scoreboards with both.. We cant lose, I take winner or loser... How about that

Strange that the ol' Pirate is favored...

False

Miss State winners 4 of past 5 against Miss, at home (neutral field Miss favorite), Miss State winners 4 of 5 overall all blowouts with a close loss to Arkansas.

This is only Miss 4th road game, 1-2 on road with the lone win being close win over Tenn

Even stranger that MSU's defense is the reason why.

Bro, Leach went out and got the DC that many of us wanted to be Baker's replacement for UM, Zach Arnett. Now MSU is top 25 in total defense. #7 in rush defense. Crazy times. But it goes to show that all the people who kept saying "Leach doesn't care at all about defense" arent that bright. He hit a home run with his DC and now his defense looks pretty good. No reason Kiffin couldn't replicate that at UM. Arnett is making 600k per year at MSU (less than Diaz was making as UM) I'd be thrilled if he stole Arnett away from Leach to be UM DC. All that said, I think Ole Miss wins the game because Corral is the better QB, but more importantly the Ole Miss OL is better and will control the LOS.

These games have a weird way of subverting expectations. Everyone assumes it will be a high scoring shootout, but I wouldnt be surprised if Kiffin tries to stick with a ground game and control TOP. Ole Miss has the #7 rushing offense, MSU has the #7 rushing defense. MSU has the #2 passing offense so the key for Ole Miss will be limiting MSUs possessions. Going to be a fun game.

Auburn had a 28-3 lead over the Pirate's Dogs ..... they scored 40 unanswered and won 43-34.

Pirate wins the Egg Bowl. His QB will outplay Kiffin's QB.

Eh, he’s been a head coach for 20 years at multiple P5 schools and this is the first time he’s a had a defense that isn’t trash. I’m not willing to believe all of the sudden, things have changed. Besides, Joe Moorehead had a better defense there just a few years ago coached by Bob Shoop. It’s not impossible to put together a good defense in Starkville for a year or two. Bottom line is, Mike Leach is going to be somewhere between 7-6 and 9-4 which is exactly where he always finishes everywhere.

Lane's decision to go for it on 4th and short on the first drive inside their 40 was interesting. Very Pirate like...
