Off-Topic Lane says what everyone knows… (NIL Bags)

NIL will be wild for the next 2-3 years. It will settle when people aren't getting any ROI. Boosters are burning cash right now because they think it will make a difference, but when they realize their teams still suck they'll be more selective
I think there’s going to be a lot of truth to this. Right now people are dropping stupid money even at mediocre or failing programs.

But when reality sets in, people are going to be less inclined to pay bums, and the really lucrative deals are going to go to the good players that deserve it most. Just like it was when it was all under the table.

I think it would be a mistake to think it’s not still under the table too.

He isn't lying.

It's becoming more like the NFL every day. I don't watch it and pay about 10 to 20 percent as much attention as I used to. ****, I haven't even looked to see what the bowl game matchups are.

I've also noticed I tend to like the players that come here and stick around more than the one or two year rentals.

We won't be competitive NIL wise, so we better have an amazing staff when it's complete. The only way to change minds on the elite recruits will be by doing special things on the field.
Good post but I disagree on not being competitive NIL wise. Why wouldn't we be? Honest question. I would think that with the school now having made a solid commitment to spending the money and committing the resources necessary to compete at the highest level that NIL would be part of that commitment. It stands to reason as NIL as quickly becoming the biggest factor in a prospects decision to sign a LOI with a school. Where am I going wrong here?

In case anybody just started paying attention, the very best players have all been going to a handful of schools since the game started. The idea that players getting publicly paid somehow disrupted this fair and balanced recruiting system in college football is a joke. None of this is new. Programs have been buying players forever. The numbers were just not public knowledge. Maybe some fans had their heads in the sand and actually believed that college football was an amateur sport but they can’t pretend anymore.

Putting a cap or limiting payments won’t matter. They’ll just go right back under the table. Teams are limited to 85 scholarships so even if they’re buying every kid, there’s only so many kids they can take. If you further limit scholarships, you can further limit blue chip hoarding. But the idea that college football would ever be this 100% fair and equal game is imaginary.

It was NEVER amateur athletics. The ONLY reason the NCAA creates that nonsense was.do they could get out of providing these athletes workers comp.
The NCAA was literally formed to keep poor people from competing in sports. In the old days it was thought that nobody would actually participate in sports (which were often dangerous) if they weren’t getting paid unless they were already so wealthy, they didn’t need extra money. It’s got nothing to do with competitive balance or the fake guise of amateurism. It was to keep athletics in the realm of the ultra wealthy.

**** I was just going to post this! Everyone pays and some do it better than any others. Looking at you Nick, Kirby, Lincoln, Urban/Day and Jimbo…. I have faith that Mario will legally find a way to do his job here. Let’s ******* go!

The system we had up until NIL was formed to keep the television money in the hands of the institutions. Liberal mindsets and their breeding grounds, the American university system, have always manipulated the masses to take their money. I absolutely detest this country’s university system. They continue to destroy capitalism. Kids paying exorbitant amounts of tuition starve while endowments and teachers salaries explode. Shameless
The narrative will never change. Without the university’s blessings, people will never get ahead in life. Give them all of your money and you too will one day have a better lift. 😂 What a joke.

None of the television money is going to kids. The schools are still keeping all that money (or reinvesting it into athletic budgets) NIL deals are not payment from the school but from private entities.

The university system was designed to keep wealthy people wealthy and poor people poor also. But this isn’t the forum for those discussions

That’s exactly my point too. You and I are in 100% agreement. I hope there’s a special place in **** for these people. We haven’t even discussed the cost of lifelong medical treatments for injuries sustained while under their employment. Oh wait…. They got around that too. The NCAA will soon be a memory. Toothless scumbags

Absophuckinglutely!!! The ruling class people that represented the NCAA were first challenged by Ed O'Bannon. They were very much aware some teams paid players and violated recruiting rules, but engaged in selective enforcement. Many, especially here, decried the fact they did this, but choose to side with their ruling class when certain peoples pointed out selective enforcement in public society. Not until equally powerful ruling class members challenged the NCAA were there any real changes allowing players to do what every student and citizen could, "make money or sign deals".

The more things change the more they stay the same.

Difference now is the Government is getting a piece. Instead of bag men funneling cash to get a Bama croot a new Tahoe, it's the dealership making the kid a "spokesman". Same 8-10 schools committed to winning at all costs will be the same with huge NIL deals for the top kids every year. Now that it is above board we may be able to participate when before we were neutered by the promise of NCAA investigations for getting a kid a coffee.

He's not - and it's only getting worse.

There's no reason all linemen at Texas get a deal like that. Half the state can't even name those backup players and some will NEVER see the field, yet they are making a bunch of cash for what again?? And more than a large percentage of hard working adults make.

Shouldn't hate even if you're a hardworking adult.

Life hasn't changed. SOME GET BIG BUCKS OTHERS DON'T. So what's different now?

The only difference I can see is that some don't like and are hating who's getting the $$

It can all be solved easily by focusing on your own life

The conferences will take the money from the socialism that is the NCAA and college athletics. The NCAA will go away and the larger conferences will keep it all for themselves. It’s a new age of big time college sports. Wait for the reaches and governing bodies to cry foul. They know if that money taken from children isn’t theirs to keep, they’ll lose out. Socialism is real and it’s a liberal disease that’s infected this country since the the dawn of the new deal. If you don’t understand the context, begin reading. 🐑

it's an absolute sh*t show and it will ruin the sport imo

they've opened the can of worms and it can never be closed
When they wouldn't investigate and stop the UGA, Bama and the SEC endless spending madness, they did themselves a disservice. If this is the result to even the field some, ***** the ncaa
