Interestingly, two other starters at UM in the early '90's were from the same lousy Maynard Evans High School: Kerlin Blaise and Kenard Lang. I guess they were stronger students coming out of HS. Doesn't mean their HS wasn't sub-par.

I think we might have had a few others from Evans but can't remember right now.

Ease up on E-High man!! I went to school and was a class behind Kerlin and Kenard, although I had some classes with them. Yea, Evans isn’t considered an academic powerhouse lol

CBaveon Johnson (rJr.)Andrew Boselli (rJr.)Christian Meadows (rFr)
RGMike Arnold (rJr.)Dontae Lucas (Fr.)
RTLandon ****erson (rJr.)Abdul Bello (rSr.)Jalen Goss (rFr.)

LT1 - Jauan Williams: 4-star 2016
LT1 - Chaz Neal: 3-star 2018 (converted DT)

LG1 - Brady Scott: 3-star 2017

C1 - Baveon Johnson: 4-star 2016

RG1 - Mike Arnold: 4-star 2016

RT1 - Abdul Bello: 4-star 2015

So you look at this line and you think, "hey, they should be good, 4 of the 5 are redshirt juniors/seniors who were 4-star recruits". Then you realize that these guys were playing last year when F$U went 5-7 and put up these offensive stats:

Points per game vs. FBS opponents: 20.6 (114 out of 130 teams)

Yards per play vs. FBS opponents: 5.07 (107 out of 130 teams)

Yards per rush vs. FBS opponents: 2.69 (129 out of 130 teams)

Yards per pass attempt vs. FBS opponents: 7.1 (73 out of 130 teams)

First downs per game vs. FBS opponents: 16.5 (119 out of 130 teams)

Third down conversion percentage vs. FBS opponents: 28.74 (128 out of 130 teams)

Redzone conversion percentage vs. FBS opponents: 75.86 (116 out of 130 teams)

Redzone touchdown percentage vs. FBS opponents: 55.17 (105 out of 130 teams)

Sacks allowed per game vs. FBS opponents: 3.18 (118 out of 130 teams)

Plays gaining 10-plus yards vs. FBS opponents: 142 (88 out of 130 teams)

Time of possession vs. FBS opponents: 27:12.82 (118 out of 130 teams)

The SemenHoles had better not suffer any injuries, because this is their second-string:

LT2 - Jay Williams: 3-star 2019 (JuCo transfer)

LG2 - Christian Armstrong: 4-star 2018

C2 - Andrew Boselli: 3-star 2016

RG2 - Dontae Lucas: 4-star 2019

RT2 - Jalen Goss: 3-star 2018

Reserves:

Cole Minshew: 3-star 2015
Christian Meadows: 3-star 2018

Whatever happened to a kid named Mario Mills from Evans? He was a running back that would have graduated in 97 and last played in 96? We beat them in the playoffs that year, but that dude was a fookin BALLER!

That dude was the best player we played all year, or least that played well against us, and that included the 96 Carol City Chiefs team that had Ethnic, santana, forget the little scat backs name, robert Farmer maybe. The D was loaded as F too.

Miami’s OL was nowhere near as bad as FSU’s.

Miami’s wasn’t good, but FSU’s was historically bad.

Miami rush offense: 45th
FSU: 126

Sacks allowed Miami: 56th
FSU: 111th

TFL allowed Miami: 44th
FSU: 126th

Not the point. It is not purely a comparison between UM and F$U. Look at the bigger picture. 5-star Cam Akers and 5-star Jacques Patrick can't accomplish **** behind the F$U line. Cam Akers went for 706 yards last year, Patrick went for 378.

Meanwhile, 4-star Travis Homer goes for 985 yards and 4-star Deejay Dallas goes for 617 yards. On top of that, Cam and Lorenzo combined for over 300 yards, while Amir Rasul didn't crack 50 yards.

So the point is, whatever Miami is doing, even if our OL talent is not the best, we are certainly producing more yardage with "less talent" (from a star rating standpoint). This isn't OL smack talk, this is pointing out that even if Miami isn't fielding the best OL ever, we still manage to get pretty good RB production year-in/year-out.

So if you are a top running back, would you rather put your chips on the F$U line...or go with Miami, which could easily feature a 1,000 yard rusher every year if we didn't spread the ball around so much.

Yeah, well aware of all that....my measuring stick is a 28-27 result with I believe a 1 sack differential between OL and somewhere around 20 yard differential in rushing yards.

How great or how poorly F$U and their OL do against other competition on their schedule is less relevant to me, but that's me.

They got an NIU transfer probably to take ****erson’s spot. No idea who he is but he’s probably gonna start. That’s an atrocious starting 5. Your best guys are who Scott and Johnson?

We both play 12 games.... Picking a singular game for a data comparison and drawing a conclusion based off the observation is terrible analysis.

Fair point. And we have no idea whether that NIU transfer is going to be the F$U version of Tommy Kennedy.
