I’m not sure if OP doesn’t listen as well as he thinks he does, or that he has some sort of understanding dyslexia that allows him to flip sound information into his warped, twisted, distorted view, but Klatt didn’t say what he thinks he heard. I’ll try to send help.
Miami, is the current version of Miami due to coaching, recruiting and development. And none of the three have anything to do — directly — with Saban/AL or Swinney/Clemson. Nothing. Everything that can be attributed to Miami, or taken away from Miami, is the fault of Miami.
Some what if’s:
- Miami had hired Swinney in 2007 instead of Shannon when Swinney was not yet a head coach? (Or the more obvious: just hired another coach who wouldn’t send the program into a slow regression)
- every TOP-PLAYER in SFL over the last 15 years that went to Alabama, Clemson, UGA, UF, Auburn, OSU … and maybe 3 other universities … still went there, BUT Miami hit on ALL of the FL evaluations below that level (example: Miami takes a flyer on Khalil Mack — and he still becomes Khalil Mack! Miami takes Teddy Bridgewater…I’ll stop there before real fans get sick), is there any rational person who would say that Miami would still have had to walk in the wilderness for the last 15 years?
- Miami’s 3-stars actually were developed on the level of the 2-stars and 0-stars who go to other schools like Stanford, Wisconsin, Iowa (…many others) and could actually convert a 4th and 1 on nearly any defense. Or, actually stop another team from converting a dive on 4th and 1.
Even in the current environment, Miami has an OPPORTUNITY to be a consistent CFP team by making the right choices in the three areas noted above. How do we know this? Because the IIT has had three consecutive 10-Win seasons and is contending for a 4th this year — and they play 5 stooges from the AWFUL AWFUL CONFERENCE every year. Talk about dripping “va jay jays” all you want … but it’s projection.
Get help.
