This guys name came up recently.

Most of you are probably who?!?

He's the Washington Redskins LB coach.

His father coached with Grantham...He coached LBs with Richt before under Grantham he's been just about everything except a DC and has a lot of pro experience.

He was there when Sean Taylor was playing and then he left to coach with Richt then and is now back with the Redskins coaching LBs.

He went to high school at St Thomas Aquinas, while his father coached the '83 National Championship team under Schnellenberger.

Feel free to discuss.

Shaq's Dad,

Any word on other LB coaching candidates?

Has Mike Barrow's name come up?

Yes... When the Redskins fired everyone with the exception of Olivadotti on the defensive side of the ball is an indicator

Good post. The name Olivadotti alone will still rankle feathers in South Florida (among Dolphin fans) but Kirk's name should definitely be on our radar if we're trying to guess Richt's next move.

Total D @ Georgia
2011 7th
2012 61st
2013 52nd

Not really eye popping #'s especially the last two years

This is part jest but having grown up a fins fan in the 80s and 90s I don't want an olivadotti near my hurricanes

His Dad's bend but don't break D was a nightmare. Still, the fins would have been better with the old man as DC this year than **** show they put together this season.

Olivadotti was Dorito before there was Dorito. God, he was horrendous. The master of the bend-but-don't-break defense.

Tom Olivadotti was one of the WOAT DC's ever. I hope this is a joke. Don't want his son within 100 miles of the U.

Does Kirk have the same defensive philosophy as Tom did? If not, fine. If so...keep him away.

Richt can find that out. And remember, Richt has been quoted on numerous occasions since taking the job that he wants an aggressive attacking defense. Hiring a "bend but don't break" DC doesn't fit in that mold. Hiring Kuligowski does fit in that mold...and that's the most recent indicator of anything Richt wants to do defensively.

Jokingly, if his last name were Williams or Smith, I'd be less skeptical. For any of you growing up a Phins fan under the reign of terror that was Tom (his dad), you'd understand the natural caution.

More seriously, does anyone have a single bit of evidence as to what kind of philosophy the son would run?

Washington hasn't exactly lit it up defensively. They allow the 4th most yards/player in the NFL.
