Seven regular season games, in totality, that illustrate he doesn’t know wtf he is talking about. Additionally, IU spanked Alabama yet played it close against PSU. IU beat Old Dominion by 13 points and Iowa by five points. Iowa beat Vanderbilt in their bowl game; but still lost by a field goal to Iowa State. The UGA vs GT games the last two years have been within one score.

NFL drafted more players from the SEC than the XII, ACC, and ND combined. I promise you, the SEC isn’t getting that good of players lmao; people act like the personnel of 30 front offices cannot have the same biases as the media ecosystem.

They were never as good as they thought they were during the 10s; and NFL draft picks give them a false impression that they are facing harder trials and tribulations than everybody else.

All that said, at least he admitted that the top of their conference, the B1G, is better than the SEC. That’s undeniable. USC was better than Vanderbilt last year.
The bolded is 100 percent true.

Its why when even on this site when dmoney or other posters would say int he earlier years that this kid looks like an "sec dt" or whatever i would try to quash it.....but even that seeped in and then it becomes the norm...then gospel.

Every year gms draft a bunch of sec turds just because the kid played at kentucky or utenn and was a high 4 star recruit with sh* t production and tape in hopes of the kid outplaying the bias created my the media on their conference players.

That sounds badass and all. But something tells me IU fans ain’t too disappointed with their lack of regular season big wins.

I’m sure Ohio State fans loved beating Texas, but probably loved that Natty the year before when they played 3 cupcakes.

Or Michigan fans the year before that. I think it sucks. I personally preferred the 8 conference games and expectation of playing other P4 games. But that’s not where the incentives are

Cut the crap. You're going to cite INDIANA?

First off, Indiana plays in the Big 10. They play 9 conference games per year. The THREE out-of-conference games in 2025 were ****** BECAUSE INDIANA IS A HISTORICALLY ****** PROGRAM THAT NOBODY GOOD WANTED TO PLAY. Ever. Maybe someday in the future, someone good might want to play Indiana, but certainly not in 2025 based on Indiana's history.

And you're going to mention Ohio Taint? WHY? They made the CFP in both 2024 and 2025. They won all 3 OOC games in both 2024 and 2025. Are you really trying to argue that Taint won the championship in 2024 "because" they didn't have to play Texas? That might be the dumbest thing that anyone has ever written on this board ever.

Get the **** out of here with that "let's ***** out and play three cupcakes" nonsense.

The ONLY thing that got Miami into the 2025 CFP was the strength of our OOC wins. Literally, nothing else.

Didn’t you hear him? Now they’re too tired from beating each other up during the regular season and the Big 10 is so refreshed from having only a few tough games that they are able to dominate the CFP instead!

Aww SEC…pobrecito….
This .................but the SEC method is stacking talent and then as the season goes along keeping their max level of play in the latter play dates.....
Saban did this, but with NIL....... the stacking does not work, so now they have to work on another formula......
Not just paying under the table, but upping the bag to keep talent in house.

He should have said.."It cost a **** of a lot more to keep players, and we upped our budget accordingly"...but it was cheaper to pay and keep back in the day before NIL brought more teams to a level playingfield.

so basically, we can't stack 5 stars on top of 5 stars because everyone can legally pay players now We dominated with depth when we were allowed to get away with paying players under the table and players were unable to freely transfer.
The jig is up

I remember hearing all this talk about how Rousseau’s sacks weren’t real sacks—‘coverage sacks.’ Then, people were worried about his lack of explosiveness to pressure the quarterback……then the following year Travon Walker goes #1 despite having less sacks in 3 years than Rousseau’s 1 year :roll-canes2:

The year OSU won the college football playoffs, VT was their only loss and they smacked them 35-21. The fact that the other leagues have 10+ win teams doesn’t reasonate with them. As if Kyle Whittingham, Frank Beamer, and Chris Peterson’s squads weren’t tough enough for the SEC lol.

Literally, the first season, in 2012, when Texas A&M moved from the Big12 to the SEC, Kevin Sumlin & them went 11-2. The second season Missouri was in the SEC making the same move from the Big 12, they went 12-2 and won their division. They won their division again the next year going 11-3. Can’t get a much better natural experiment than that.

They also avoid inconvenient truths like the plague. After winning a national championship, Alabama needed Jameson Williams to transfer or else they wouldn’t have been dominant in 2021. To win the national titles in 2015 and 2019, they needed Jacob Coker from the ACC and Joe Burrow from Ohio State.

Like why can two 5th round skill positions guys from ND (RB) and BYU (WR) step into the gold standard NFL organization and be dominant right away? They were smarter than the rest by selecting them, however, if they knew how good these guys were they’d have taken them earlier obviously. Brock Purdy is Mr. Irrelevant however no one stops to think about how big of an indictment that is on every single organization in the league; internally or externally.

If i had more time, I’d do a breakdown of where all the quarterbacks in the league went to school however Daniel Jones had a resurgent season pre-injury while Anthony Richardson can’t complete 50% of his passes then pops off on podcasts about how the NFL is easier than college football lmao.

Neither of the Super Bowl quarterbacks were from the SEC. The Super Bowl MVP went to Wake Forrest and Michigan State. Kelce and Mahomes — not SEC. Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Baker Mayfield, Jared Goff, Geno Smith, Caleb Williams, CJ Stroud, Jordan Love, Aaron Rodgers, Jacoby Brissett, Justin Herbert, Trevor Lawrence, and so on.

The recruiting rankings also warp this whole process because people really believe a 3 star will get turned to dust if they try to tackle a five star. Or that development/system fit/etc are all linear.

To add to this point, they scheduled these games in advance because of how trash they usually are lol. Unless they cancel the years approaching, they will keep playing trash OOC for the rest of the decade.

Yup. And I can't even hate on Indiana playing the Sycamores, it's not Indiana's fault that Indiana State sucks so bad.

Take a look at 2030, though. Now they're gonna be playing the REAL POWER IN INDIANA, the Swordfighting Irish...

**** gets real in 2030...

Indiana State is an FCS school in football. The most notable thing it’s done as a program is have a 34 or 37 game losing streak about 15 years ago.

It’s located in my hometown and is my Alma mater. Homecoming will rival anywhere in the country though.

They are still buying. Its that other teams can as well and dont have to worry about being targeted by the NCAA. Also they do get the most draft picks because the NFL has been obsessed with great athletes and physical traits. Look at Shemar Stewart fro example. Average player at A&M production wise, 1st round. And the SEC was always getting the higher ranked recruits on average, which usually were the best athletes.

The problem other teams and conferences had was the huge drop off between their 2nd team and 1st team, compared to the SEC. Now those 2nd wave SEC players, move elsewhere to play more or get on the field at all.

Also the biggest area where the difference was told was in the trenches. Now Bama and UGA cant run the ball or get after the QB. Trench elite players are so rare and a few teams would basically hoard all of them. Not anymore.

My wife’s cousin used to coach the basketball team, and coached as an assistant under Bobby Knight at Indiana.

On the other hand, pandemic and NIL allowing more guys to return boosted rosters for the past 5 years. I do think this is a good point about not having the same depth. I also believe that no spring portal will change this a bit moving forward.

I get what he is saying about those Alabama teams however…….those teams still lost to johnny manziel and needed Jacob Coker from fsu to transfer. I think he’ll be better in the pros; but how different is Trinidad Chambliss from Johnny Manziel when it comes to being a game breaking player?

In 2013, OU beat Bama in the Sugar Bowl and they didn’t even win the BIG12. . . Baylor did and they lost to UCF in the Fiesta Bowl.

Having to play younger players earlier additionally means they are more valuable later in the season and in their careers so it’s not a net negative as Kirby was alluding to

Physicality wins out. The SEC has been getting soft in the trenches, it’s most glaring with Bama under DeBoer. It’s not a coincidence that IU looked normal against us.
