Kevin Patrick- a year later?

Well Simpson is gone. Maybe Stroud is keeping the seat warm for Patrick. LOL

I could see that being the case also, given his previous medical history. A year at Miami would allow him to go out on top before retiring if wanted to go that route.

So your theory is that Manny's doing his friend a favor by hiring him for a year? You think Manny cares so little about his job that he'd hire a friend just to lift his spirits?

If I were you, I'd be flying a banner right now...the guy you think is coaching Miami is fcking terrible.

Let's put it this way Stroud was fired from Akron in dec/Jan and replaced by a guy from Kent State.

Do you feel Stroud is a upgrade or even comparable to Simpson or Kool at this very moment in their careers, I would say **** no at best he is stop gap measure until UM can get Kevin Patrick from NC State.

He was fired because they fired the HC. He was the DC there, so it's not surprising the new HC wanted a new guy.

Todd Hartley was fired by Miami, and people are worshiping him.

Also, KP isnt leaving NC St unless Doeren gets fired, he loves it there

If this is a one year stopgap rental to land Patrick next year, I'm 1000% on board. That being said, people thought it was dumb for Rick to hire a HS coach. Worked out pretty well. Kool and Simpson were both excellent hires, so I will give Manny the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Landing a coaching job is 90% who you know. The other half is physical.
Jess has ties with the Falcons and he got a gig, hope he does well. That being said, nothing Jess did here impressed me. He inherited 3 very good players, after that his body of work was questionable as I saw no one else on the d line that looked very impressive.

There was a guy on here that knew Patrick personally and said that his new contract made it difficult to get him last year. Is that still the case? If not, Manny please bring this guy home.
It didnt make it difficult at the time. He got a massive raise due to our interest. He wants to be here but he has a family and his wife doesnt want them in Miami. Not that she feels some kind of way just feels it's not the family environment for them. Just spoke with his old boy in west palm a week or so ago.

Ok I'll play along. But please tell me just ONE guy Jess has developed. I'll be awaiting your response.
I'm not gonna argue and I'll assume you don't want to either. Factually speaking losing jess is huge. I was skeptical at first (which is better than I feel about our new hire) but once i met him and watched him coach kids up in practice and during games he certainly made a fan out of me. Jess was an amazing hire by richt and losing him will certainly hurt. Not only was he a great coach but he related to these kids in ways most dline coaches dont comprehend.kids wanted to play for him. Only 1 kid I know that didnt like him and his reasons are understandable.

Nope. Demetrius aint that type of dude. Even if he feels some kind of way, kids way too classy to play that game. Hes an amazing person who I wouldve loved to see continue his football career. But his future is in politics.

hes def an awesome person off the field in the way he handles himself and gives back. hes just a huge kool supporter so i assume he wasn't a big fan of the jess hire along with the injuries that hurt him

Manny Diaz isnt out here hiring friends and family. Richt had the luxury to do that because he got the benefit of the doubt from his past success but Manny Diaz is out here fighting for his future and his entire professional career as a coach. He fails at this job and that will never leave his resume. Also, he knows he has to win now. This isnt a situation where you can come in and be bad for years like Willie Taeggart will be. He is making hires with his career and, thus, life on the line.

How do the kids feel about Jess leaving and the new hire? Been thinking this hurts a lot more than people believe...

Kevin had already signed a new contract at State before the UM job came open. If the UM job came open before he upped at NCS Kevin would be in Coral Gables and those are the facts.
