He got beat out by a sophomore and got moved to DT? He is a Gem that needs to be RS in order to be able play by his Junior year. All the bosco people i talke to about him say he is very raw.

A lot of big program schools actually make their football players do wrestling and track. A lot of recruiters love lineman who wrestle to. It makes more flexible and aggressive. Plus it's a different form of competition, when you lose a football game it isn't all necessarily your fault. If you lose a wrestling match it is all of your fault. In other words, stop being a girl, a 6'9" kid who can wrestle tells me he has great knee bend, is aggressive, and knows how to use leverage.

How good is this Don Bosco team? Are they like state champs every year in NJ? They seem to have some really good recruits every year

Don Bosco Prep is one of about 6 destination schools for FB in Jersey. DB has often been nationally ranked (including #1) in the not to distant past. This past year they were ranked #3 in the state. It is a perennial power, and was ranked just ahead of DePaul this year (Courtel Jenkins school). Generally the highest ranked schools in NJ are major catholic preps like DB, DePaul, St. Peters, Bergen Catholic, etc. Wayne Hills (Kevin Olsen, Greg Olsen) is one of the also large (Group 4) schools that is generally highly ranked, Hills is not private and is one of 3 public high schools in Wayne NJ.

And people were mocking the "Jersey" pipeline. Don Bosco is a football factory in the Northeast. Getting a hook into that program is HUGE for us. That is a B*G BOY. 6'9 310 and hes only a Junior? Put another 30 pounds on that kid and he's going to be a monstrosity.

Yes, Bosco and I think Bergen Catholic. Some others. Historically, it was my impression that south Jersey was even better.

Thanks, for a second I thought it was a different Don Bosco Prep.

There's also a Don Bosco Tech in Jersey - not the same school it's more or less a vocational school and does not have a football team.

North Jersey way stronger than South Jersey in football. All the catholic schools now recruit and that marks the end of the Don Boscos run. They would have kids from Paramus, Depaul, and Pope John if this was 5 years ago and they'd be the #1 team in the country.
