I HATE losing to UF, tough fckin loss, especially considering they're really not that good of a team.

With that said we didn't do enough to win, we had every opportunity to win & the Offense simply couldn't pull it out.

Some thoughts: Offense

- QB play was solid but too safe, not enough shots taken down the field which is understandable given it being Jarren's very first start, but I felt like we didn't challenge their secondary enough. OBVIOUSLY a lot of that had to do with OL play & being under duress all game long, but I still feel there were adjustments that could've been made to help the OL & slow down the pass rush. We needed to chip block more on the edge & move the pocket for Jarren letting him get outside & get the ball out of his hands quicker. We didn't run enough quick slants, hitches & dig routes. There were plays to be had vs UF's secondary, we left a lot of plays on the field out there.

- OL play particularly at the Tackles spot was overwhelmed. Zion & Campbell really struggled, I felt John got beat a lot but also had some good plays where he held his own. When he was able to get his feet under him & push the defender down the field he did well, but he had I believe 3-4 false starts penalties clearly due to the fact they were jumping the snap count & he was trying to get a beat on the rush. Zion looked like a True Freshman LT. If he's going to remain there we need to really help him out on his side with TE chip & quicker routes that get the ball out of his hands faster. I liked what I saw from Donaldson & Scaife, Gaynor had a bad snap late but played well most of the game.

- RB play was great from Deejay, he was by far our best offensive player on the field, he ran tough, with explosion & was leader for the offense. I wish we would've gave him the ball more, UF couldn't tackle him all night, he was a real problem out of the Wildcat & for whatever reason our best offensive plays all came from the Wildcat formation lol. Cam had a good run on the 60 yarder that of course got called back, the refs fcked us on that IMO but other than that he didn't play well. He's an outside runner, he's not a shifty jump cutter, he's a north & south straight line runner that if he gets a crease can make a big run, but he's not an inside runner by any means. We need Lingard to get healthy & get out there, his speed & homerun hitting ability is needed & when is Robert Burns ever going to get a snap in a game? We can't keep just having 2 backs every season, if he's fckin healthy put him out there & let him run please.

- TE play was very good from Brevin, he was the 2nd best player on the offense & accept that one dropped pass, he played very well. Mallory seemed to let the moment get to him, couldn't catch a thing, I don't think it's going to be a problem, but he's gotta step up as the season progresses, we need some big time production out of that kid this year & I'm still high on his ability. Just catch the ball kid. Michael Irvin JR, again if he's healthy play him. Also, what happened to the 2 TE sets? We barely ran them...

- WR group. My initial thought is due to how bad the OL was pass protecting it's too difficult to make a fair assessment, however JT4 had a very frustrating drop in the end zone vs Henderson, it was a good route, he just simply couldn't catch it. He had other routes where he had beat the DB & was open but again, the QB was under duress all night & the ball just wasn't coming out quick enough. I liked what I saw from KJ, felt we should've got him the ball more on quick routes & wished we would've taken a shot down the field with him in a one on one, he was beating Marco Wilson all night. Also, Enos... Please give the Jet Sweeps to JT4 or Pope ONLY. No disrespect to KJ but he's not a shifty make you miss type WR, he's a straight line speed guy.

Overall Offensive play calling; We need to get the WR's more integrated in this Offense, 214yds passing is not good, YES I KNOW THE OL DIDN'T GIVE THE QB TIME, but there are still things that can be done to diversify the offense & get the ball to our playmakers. What the fck is the sense in having JT4, KJ, Harley, Hightower, Pope, Wiggins, Payton & Njoku and not utilize them? We need to play out of the gun at least 60% of the snaps on O, too much under center ball. SPREAD THE FIELD OUT, USE FORMATIONS TO PULL DEFENDERS OUT OF THE BOX PLEASE? Also, can I get a Wheel route with Deejay or Cam one time? Every pass to the back doesn't have to be a telegraphed screen play. I'm expecting improvements by UNC & the rest of the season.

CLEAN UP THE PENALTIES! A lot of those penalties were complete horsesh*t from the refs, like the 2 Defensive PI's on Blades & Rome Finley & the bullsh*t holding call on the 60yd run, but even so still we played way too undisciplined, way too many Delay of game penalties & false start penalties, that comes from an unorganzied offense that is rattled by the moment. We MUST get that sh*t cleaned up though.

Defense:

They performed well, Run Defense did a fantastic job shutting them down only allowing 52yds rushing & kept Perine completely contained. They also didn't let Frank's gets loose much except for one play that should've been a sack if Rousseau wraps him up.

Pass Defense IMO was very good, aside from 2 big plays by Kadarius Toney (told yall shut him down, you shut the whole thing down) & that deep ball to Hammond. On that play, Frierson gave him a free release & had bad depth with his feet he got beat off the line & doesn't have the recovery speed to catch up to a kid like that, he needed to use his arm length to jam him at the line & played him outside pushing him towards Safety help, other than that he played well that was a great PBU on 3rd down by him & he got into the backfield early in the game getting a good TFL, that's where he'll excel as an in-Box Striker in short area coverage. But other than those 2 plays I felt the secondary played very well, Al Blades was very good in coverage IMO, I knew he was going to ball this season & he's only going to get better, that PI on him was bogus AF that was literally perfect coverage.

- Safety play was good not great, once they gel they'll be much better. As the president of the Amari Carter fan club I was of course happy with how well he played, he didn't play perfect but he showed something in that game, he has more range than everybody thinks he does & once he & Gurvan strengthen their communication on the backend I think we'll see big time play from both, that was a great INT on his part & don't act shocked when my boy ends up with 3 or 4 more this season, I'm telling yall he's gonna be good for us. Gurvan took a few bad angles particularly on that long run by Toney, AC5 did too, they both missed tackles (which was a problem early on) but AC started making some good Tackles late. Gurvan otherwise played well, he can tackle & when he knows what to do he's a missle out there, they both just need some time. Hopefully we can get Bolden in soon because we'll need his athleticism out there.

Last year the most pass yards we gave up in any game the whole season was 222yds total that's it, if we tackle Toney on the screen & play better coverage on the Hammond pass, we would've been well under the 254yds we gave up vs UF which is **** good as is considering we lost 2 starting Safeties, a staring CB & was down in depth with Ivey & Bolden being out, not to mention losing 2 DB's before the season to transfer. Our Pass Defense is ELITE, I'm not afraid to say it, if only allowing 254yds with 2INT's is the "worst" they play this year then I'll take that all **** day!

- The interior DL did great IMO, I really liked what I saw from Ford & Bethel, they were stout up front, not much interior pressure was created but they were great in the run game. Patchan, Garvin, Hill & Rousseau did a good job forcing Franks out side of the pocket & maintaing contain on the edge, Rousseau IMO was the most disruptive & should've had 2 sacks if he wraps up. We need to generate way more pass rush off the edge though, it's necessary for the success of the Defense that we have heavy pressure from the DE's.

- The LB group didn't play their best game, Shaq was good I need to rewatch again to reevaluate fully how they looked. I thought they looked good vs the run, but in Blitzing situations they just weren't get there enough, not that it's entirely their fault but I'm used to seeing them get after the QB & get in the backfield a lot more. Like I said need to reevaluate again.

- Special Teams was good in tackling, they didn't let any big returns happen, I liked our Punting & Bubba Baxa was good except for the missed FG. The fake FG run was good too, another bullsh*t holding call from the refs. Every time we made a big play the refs made sure they fcked us smfh.

JT4... JUST LET THE BALL GO MAN. We gifted them a TD because of that.

Overall, despite 14 penalties for 118yds & all the offensive mishaps we still had multiple chances to win, we unfortunately didn't but we fought & were not intimidated one bit by UF, we fought til the end & that's an improvement from last year. We should've won that **** game, we beat ourselves smh. We need to get the penalties cleaned up, we need to work on tackling & we absolutely need to get that OT spots solved. Idk what, but we need to do something to help Zion & John, growing pains I understand but giving up 10 sacks is a recipe for disaster. If we plan on winning 10 games this year WE MUST SOLVE THE OL PROBLEM.

The jury is still out but I saw some good things from this team, I still think we're in for a good season just need to to get some things fixed quick. But it ain't nowhere near over yet, we can a make a big comeback statement by beating a bad UNC team on the road, just keep building.

As always LCE, a fair and balanced viewpoint of the game. If Mallory was struggling so much, leave him in to help Zion block or at least chip before running his route. More quick passing routes were needed for certain; they would’ve helped JDub settle down, including rolling him away from Zion’s side and getting the ball out quicker. Completely agree on the wheel routes - we have to start utilizing them more to keep defenses honest. We had a lot of open receivers, just need JDub to deliver the ball to them. When we were balanced was when he was most effective in my opinion. He’s more than a game manager, but we should start him off that way to gain confidence until such time as he’s matured in the pocket.

Defensively I thought they did a great job given all the bull**** calls against them. AC5, to your point, should’ve jammed the receiver and thrown him off his route. Blades JR. Is going to be a good one for us, can’t believe Ivey did something stupid to get suspended for what is one of, if not the, biggest game of the season. Hopefully he will learn and put team ahead of himself. Middle of the DL was stout, here’s hoping Ford and Bethel can generate more push moving forward to disrupt the OL play there. Agree completely on the DE’s getting up field more but understood the necessity to keep Franks contained throughout the game, which we did manage to do.

All in all, I cannot stand the Gayturd, their fan base, and the stupid AF corch Mullet. We had every opportunity to win that game; why not take the delay on the chip shot FG attempt to get the ball centered for Baxa? In his short career, he’s had mega problems with that angle kick. Thought Hedley settled in and played very well - if we still had Feagles the score wouldn’t have been close. Can’t explain JT4 muffing that punt, let the **** ball go, there was no one close enough I saw to warrant catching that ball.

Here’s to the ne t 2 weeks of working hard on the adjustments necessary to start turning the team into the group they’re capable of being. The Coastal is still ripe for the picking, and a date versus Clemson in the ACCCG. But all that starts on the road in Chapel Hill. We need to make a huge statement in that game, and take what we learned from this past one, to ensure success moving forward.

Yup, forgot to mention it but yeah that missed false start for UF on a 4th down play was a major help to them.

The refs fcked us a lot, I'm not blaming them for us losing but they no doubt fcked us every chance they could.

Supposedly a seasoned, B12 officiating crew on top of that as well. You would’ve thought they were either given bags, or instructions for the #8 team not to lose. They’ve officiated big games before but looked like strike refs who crossed the picket line.

The Mallory point you made was my thought as well. He needs to rebound and get a few positive plays under his belt. The other TE was a different story. I went dark after the dropped punt, was he inside the ten? I know teams catch it inside the ten to keep the ball off the goal line but at times I also wonder why players don;t just let it go sometimes... I am not an expert and I am arm chair QBing so it is what it is... Very curious to see how the team/staff improves throughout the year.

Agree on all points.

UNC plays South Carolina this weekend, we need to study the **** out of that game tape & prepare like crazy for everything they can throw at us.

It's not that we need to worry about them as a team, it's that we need to have a big performance against them & avoid playing a close game vs a weak Coastal team even if it's in their house.

We need to come out the gates blasting & crush UNC, foot on their necks & absolutely crush them for all 4 quarters.

I wanna see our 2nd & 3rd team getting snaps in the 3rd & 4th quarter vs them.

Even more than the UF game, this to me is real early-on test of whether Manny is the right guy and whether we will see dramatic improvement over the last 15 years. We should crush them by 30.

I count this loss as a blessing for our young guys and fresh coaches. Message is just when you think you’ve practised enough, do some more. Expect the unexpected, especially on ST. Thank the turds for the lessons.

Patience or not to have patience is the issue with the coach. Some of the best coaches in the game struggled for a few years before they got it going. It is a fine line between firing the dude to quick or giving him some time. Unfortunately we have had some wonders as coaches so an overreaction is completely warranted. I want to see how they improve over the year as a staff. Then I want to see the kids get better and not "pack it in". I would love to see an improvement on special teams because it is not the largest of the three facets of the game (this tells you something about a coach, his attention to detail...). I was ****ed they lost a game they could have won but I am going to stay focused on what my eyes tell me. The UNC game is barometer number one, hoping they show me something. Diaz never coached a game before and the first game for every coach is a feeling out process to begin with. It will be interesting to see the adjustments by the staff.

They had a play that was clear targeting on Jarren on one drive in the second half and nothing was called. Sh*t ****ed me off

I thought I saw that too, of course they never showed a replay on the video board. Neutral site my ***.

Agree on your overall point.

For some reason and it has zero basis, I got the Chaffee Fields feeling from that game. They lost but they learned some valuable lessons. Praying this is the case.

Man, the special teams used to be a hallmark of this program. They have to get that figured out. I know a few people have complained about having a ST's coach, it may be time for that to become a reality.

Down by our goal line. Late hit. Right in front of the ref. Tough non call. Some of the holds looked to be phantom but I am no expert.

Loss to UF sucks. However, at the end of the season if we are 11-1 playing Clemson for a playoff spot and UF ends up 8-4 (like I I think they will), playing in the Charmin Toiletpaper Bowl, IDGAF if the Gator fans want the bragging rights over this game.

Question is- do we have a 10 win team based on what we saw? I'm leaning yes if Enos's playcalling improves (I cant get over his insistence on playaction in the UF game). The only reason I'm slightly more hopeful of a run this year after a game 1 loss vs last year is my gut says JW is a much, much better QB than Rosier based on his 1st start on a huge stage against a solid D.

Give me Kaaya's accuracy and smarts with the football combined with Rosier's mobility and you got yourself a stew.

I didn't see the benefit of running so much playaction either. They were clearly playing the run on the way to the pass as it was, willing to let us try to run on them a bit before they really made any special effort to stop it. We had a decent running night at the end of the game, but we certainly weren't running the ball effectively consistently. It was more about busting off chunk plays here and there. I think they were willing to live with that in order to get pressure and negative plays on D.

We would have been better off running more quick, short passes. Seemed they were willing to play soft coverage with a lot of zone, confuse the QB and wait for the pressure to get there. Longer developing play action passes seemed to play right into their hands, in addition to making Jarren have to think more and not get his eyes downfield immediately because of carrying out the fake.

All that said, I remain optimistic and this is one of a few things the coaches did that night that I haven't been able to figure out or rationalize yet. Maybe it's something Enos sees on film and comes to the same conclusion as us, or maybe he had a good reason for it that we just don't see.

Good stuff.

Jarren just doesn’t have it for me. Something is amiss there. I would figure for coaches to go with him that he was heads & shoulders better then the other two who both have game experience...he wasn’t. Zero awareness, zero urgency, & he wilts in pressure moments...him fumbling snap on the 4th down & last play of the game was egregious.

RB’s were good. Would love to see them meet defenders with much more explosive power when pass blocking.

WR’s were ok, JT14 costs us 14 points but it’s one game. The Tate at WR baffled me tremendously..keep that dumb **** up & our other WR’s will transfer.

Mallory with too many **** drops..I don’t want to hear people talking about his potential any longer. Catch the got **** ball & stay healthy...would’ve loved to see Playmaker Junior get some reps.

OL was garbage, allowed too many 3 man pass rush to get home. Technique is lacking.

DL was ok..Hill appears to have more get off than Patchan..not mad at it but need to see more. Garvin might be better suited to go back to LE where he played at for two years & was a monster at.

LB’s were average. No real game changing plays made. None really given up either.

Secondary was average. Safety’s below average...Why does Banda dumb *** continue to allow the slowest & our worst covering Safety as the high free safety in certain looks? Carter should’ve been over the top & helping Frierson on that TD but he couldn’t get there. He would ask Jamal Carter to do the same dumb ****. Al blades needs awareness. That fake punt he gave up to his side is unacceptable. The missed tackles by this group was also bad.

Punter was average & looks the part only..only. People say well he’s better than feagles...well being better than feagles isn’t the standard here but I love being average in punting. No issues there.

Game management was pretty bad. Penalties were atrocious.

I’m glad the next game isn’t famu, bcc, or fiu..it’s a legit opponent that they’ve had an extra week to prepare and I expect total domination.

Agree Bleak.

I def wanted to see Garvin, Hill & Patchan getting the backfield a lot more, but I think their assignment was to keep Franks from running too much, they were supposed to maintain contain & force him to his left outside the pocket but they needed to collapse the pocket a lot more.

I think the game plan defensively was good. It obviously worked and put us in position to win. Heck, in position for a blowout if we capitalize on the turnovers. If the thought was forcing Franks to his worst side, and not allowing him to beat us with his legs, it's absolutely the right move because he certainly can't/couldn't with his arm.

Agree, he was absolutely holding onto the ball for too long.

He's safe with the ball & doesn't want to turn the ball over, but because of that he's too safe & won't let it go unless his man is completely open.

He needs to speed up his processing & come off his first read quicker, but there were some things he did well.

Also when he scrambles he needs to be more decisive, he dances around too much looking for a last minute throw but that allows pass rushers time to catch up to him, he needs to decide that when he's gonna tuck & run to just tuck & run.
This is what scared me with JW15 becoming the starter. We have too many playmakers to be conservative at QB. "LIFE REWARDS RISK TAKERS"

Yes, I absolutely understand Cane good ol' boy's HATE mighty Florida and all that. But the mighty Gators have a VERY good defense. Especially that front seven. So protecting a first time RS freshmen Saturn night past was relatively warranted and what not.

Oh. And one more notion. The HATED Gators will probably finish " 10-2 " in a tough SEC. dUh.

Couldn’t agree
Agree on all points.

UNC plays South Carolina this weekend, we need to study the **** out of that game tape & prepare like crazy for everything they can throw at us.

It's not that we need to worry about them as a team, it's that we need to have a big performance against them & avoid playing a close game vs a weak Coastal team even if it's in their house.

We need to come out the gates blasting & crush UNC, foot on their necks & absolutely crush them for all 4 quarters.

I wanna see our 2nd & 3rd team getting snaps in the 3rd & 4th quarter vs them.

Couldn’t agree more Liberty, we do need a 45-17 type score to get the young kids a well earned victory under their belts, and for them to trust what the coaches are teaching them. To see actual results, especially on the road will galvanize the team and move them forward to the remainder of the season.

Agree. ST’s have become a step child with the program as of late,
