2026 Karsten Busch 4* LB from Louisville, KY (St. Xavier) PreCommit Thread (Flips to the Canes From Louisville)

Played very little in 2024. I’m in the minority but I’d like to see what Hetherman can do with him when healthy. I’m not relying on him to be a stud or anything, but he is extremely talented. He’d have to transfer down a level or 2 to play because he has no film, might as well stay here and compete in a system you know and a trash LB room 🤷🏾‍♂️
Got scout team player of week this week, so seems he’s back to participating at least.

People keep saying this but why on earth should we view that and just dumbly give out a high NIL offer for players In that boat?
Like people saying Fletcher will make more in NIL by staying than going to the NFL where he may not even be drafted… uh isn’t that a glaring red sign that he’s getting far more NIL than he deserves and we aren’t allocating resources properly?

Chase Smith has been better than I thought he’d be this year. But he isn’t close to a starting level Lb for where we need to be.
Does Chase really command a lot of NIL ? I would not have guessed it tbh

No but to say he should stay to get NIL implies he’d be getting something decent. And if he’s a 7th yr senior or whatever expecting to start he hurts us by A) getting too many reps and B) likely getting a larger NIL deal than he should

I mean he’d be what, three years removed from the last big knee injury.. he should be starting as a super veteran now in this defense if he returns. A grown man! And he still looks athletic, but gets lost a bit sometimes. When you know the entire playbook and scheme, you can play faster. I’d love to see this kid get an extra year and ball out or at least provide some veteran leadership

He does not look athletic to me and he looks very bad against the pass

Ya Chase was an athletic tweener. LB at one point, between the injuries and the weight game I agree he looks slow and stiff…Capable of some downs here and there, but in year 6 don't overpay him to stay if that's the issue.

I get the intangibles thing, and I welcome him being LB #5 if needed, but you don't want him on the field too much

We lose…

Wesley, Toure, Smith, Alderman?

Bring back Aguirre, Bonner (lol), Marcelin (lololol), Wiley, and Bobby? Hayes is probably done I’d assume. This in addition to the 26’ kids obviously. If this kid can play at all, he will have every opportunity to show it cause that is ******* disgusting.
It’s already a done deal Campbell is a DE correct?
