Because we can. We have the #2 recruiting class in the nation and just went the championship. Whether it's true or not it's certianly plausible. It would be a joke for FSU or UF to say it because they're not in position to. This really isn't hard to understand unless you're being purposefully obtuse.

Just seems pointless to me. Reads like we didn’t land him so we made a point of making it known we said no. My point isn’t about our standing vs UF/FSU or if we can’t or can. I just don’t see the point in it.

The part of spending money everyone needs to understand is that money is allocated by position. Every pro team undertakes this same analysis, and we are a professional league now. The 49ers spend more money at the FB position than any other team because in their offense it has more value than any other offense.

Now DJ Jacobs would make sense for all the reasons provided herein. We’ll see what happens. But (4) 5 stars is more than enough to win a championship provided you have the right 5 stars.

Yup. DL and CB/NB are where the gold is in this Defense. Budget is going to represent that too.

Would love to hear some insight regarding NIL as it applies to this case. Obviously the player and his rep. know the offers of the respective institutions. In this case, presumably Miami, ND, and T A&M. While maybe not knowing the exact offers of the competing parties, each school it would seem sets a value based on player ability and position. At the very least it appears Miami wants it's offer to stand on it's own merit in terms of compensation and just as importantly the institution, culture and brand...

Now what happens if in this type of market, where the goal would be for one's offer to stand on it's own merit, someone pits other parties against one another in order to maximize financial benefit? Or even is exposed using deceptive tactics to drive up the price? Or misleads parties, lacking integrity, to maximize benefit while reaching the 'preferred' destination? Not naive to the fact that this happens, but could any of these tactics lead to 'outing' the recruit and his representation by a public withdrawal?

'Family' and culture are emphasized by Mario & staff (more than lipservice I gather), and with time and resources invested, especially in high profile recruitments, it seems a violation of trust could lead to such measures as ending a recruitment. Remember, we've seen Mario tirelessly pursue recruits that have initially looked the other way. Something here prompted a 'line in the sand' moment.

Think critically here. Is he the first high profile recruit Mario’s missed out on this cycle?

Nothing like this came out with them. So something must have happened that rubbed Mario the wrong way.

I agree with what you said. Something happened here and it’s not as simple as A&M or ND offered more money.

It goes to the actual player’s integrity. Demanding that he be given a starting position or higher NIL even though the amount was essentially agreed upon at the official visit.

Don’t remember where Mario said it but he hates that game of in season extortion attempts by players after a couple of good games.

I can see the recruit rankings coming out and he lies and says A&M is paying him substantially more in order to get A&M to raise their nil offer because he really wants to go there and Miami finds out he has been playing them.

It’s more than that because recruits do this all the time and it’s expected. It’s good business.

The te that went to va tech was because va tech offered him much more than we were willing to match.

But it says a lot if the player himself is lying about UM while at other schools. We don’t have to tolerate that.

Save face? We just stuffed their faces in DEC. ( PAUSE). They probably asked him to decide one way or the other. He’s still shopping and we’re in the checkout line.

Yea, its the era of legal bags don't over complicate it...

I imagine there is a point you just pass on a guy who's not top tier and asking for top tier $. Especially when its the 8th time the agent/ handler has come back with the hand out...Fk off to ATM/ ND.

I think you're getting hung up on the wrong thing here.

I think the optics of using proxies to say we are no longer recruiting X recruit is weird. I trust Mario and the staff's decisions to not recruit any player. It's me seeing a random aggregator account on IG regurgitating what Gabby said is what I think is weird. Again, I don't think us landing or not landing this kid has any bearing on us winning anything long term. Just seems weird multiple sources and accounts are saying it. That's all.

If him and his camp did something to rub Mario the wrong way I agree with moving on from the player. I just wouldn't publicize us not recruiting him anymore. Almost like you're skinning a cat two different ways. Either way it looks like we lost out. If we didn't great, but it just looks that from the outside.
