2027 Kaden Henderson 5* LB from Tampa Jesuit

Was this an " I quit before you fire me" type of situation where we realized we wouldn't be the pick? I don't get the sudden shift in position. I'm still cool with our Lb commits though.

Have to reallocate more funds after our kids got formally promoted to 5 stars?
There's no reason to overspend at LB when we already have 2 Wolverines committed.

We don't run a 4-3 & we will rarely if ever have 3 LB's on the field at the same time.

It comes down to if Henderson wanted to sign on in a class with 2 other LB's. That's not going to happen if he's asking for top price & expecting early PT.

From his view, he understood that committing to us while we already have 2 premium LB's in the class would mean he would have to compete & if we weren't willing to match the other offers from TAMU & ND, then he probably didn't think Miami would be the best place for him.

From Miami's side, they're not gonna overpay for a LB, when they already got their top 2. And if a kid from Tampa can't see what's being built & doesn't wanna be apart of it, then there's no need to waste their time.
This, you got two prototypes at LBer with Heatherman coaching them up. The juice is not worth the squeeze here, I was shocked when D$ posted about us feeling good. Spend that money flipping DJ Jacobs or going after a top OT, **** get me a TE at this point…

This kid might be the real deal, but I always hesitate when I see Jesuit kids. Historically soft and incredibly entitled

It’s Miami or ND. I like where Miami stands.

Even in the beginning of this process I never thought we would get him. I do think it’s lame that “we move on” from players that are not choosing us, just come across as sour grapes.

Safety and WR are bigger needs.

Would agree but we don't have all the facts. Who knows what was going on behind the scenes/if the kid's agent was continuously trying to leverage us for a bigger bag. May have gotten to the point that Mario was done with the nonsense and decided to take it public to show he wasn't wasting anymore time with the games

Not worried about either of those spots tbh

I’m sure Miami is gonna allocate resources to Hypo, jacobs, and a couple other spots we need to close out an insane class. I still stand by if Miami wanted Henderson we could have had him.

Lmao I basically literally posted the same thing like 1-2 weeks ago and got **** on by a certain poster …. Lol

Something unique happened here. Mario is still recruiting Mark Matthews, for the record. For them to publicly tell the reporters to put it out there that we're not recruiting this kid anymore, something specific happened. And no, it's not the kid telling Miami someone else is leading or **** even that he committed somewhere else. This staff simply doesn't take no for an answer.

So he did something specific they didn't like, or simply the price became not worth negotiating. Similar to Brewster. I think his camp is saying numbers Miami simply has no desire to even pretend to entertain. I suspect something similar happened here. Miami has 2 kids they love in the bag, those kids are locked in, and they're simply unwilling to spend a number they feel doesn't even come close to making sense for a 3rd linebacker.

That's about the only reason I can think of Mario just giving up on a kid. He is a T-1000, he doesn't just stop chasing you.

Going public would certainly align with the agent leveraging schools for a bigger bag, ŵhich additionally de-values the "wanting to bè a 'Cane" culture. Sends a clear messaĝe to remaining guys on the board too.
As for Henderson, now one of his suitors is clearly out. Leverage that. And if he really wants in, my guess is Mario will take the call.

Now go get a kid like Drew Williams at LB, or someone who wants to be here, to develop for a fraction of the NIL and add a little more depth to the room for the future.
